  1. I’m sure he peruses each of the hundreds of Sox boards out there. He usually goes by the name MADSTORK
  2. Start with Ceddane Rafaela, since Duran looks like he might actually be a worthwhile option in CF…
  3. Dalbec and Pivetta is worse for the other team than just Pivetta. Unless they need a cheap RHH K-machine, this deal means the other team gives up one 40 man roster spot for two. Any deal for Bieber or deal for something for Bieber will NOT include Dalbec. I posted the BTV minor overpay of Rafaela and Yorke for Bieber. That might not be the actual price, but it won’t be less than that…
  4. Any large deal you try to rack Dalbec on the end of is equally appealing (or unappealing) without him. The Guardians GM isn’t going to hold back on a Bieber trade unless Dalbec is included…
  5. He has Platoon Appeal. I threw a request on here and BTV to deal him to Cincy for Kevin Newman, a goof glove/no hit SS who got displaced by Uber-prospect Matt McLain, but still drew a salary. I could see a deal like that. Nothing Earth-shattering. Salary dumps or A-ball players. That’s what Dalbec gets you…
  6. If you leave out 2020, JDs last 3 seasons with Boston were .937, .867, .790. Not horrible but very trending the wrong way, and at age 35, I can see not relying on them to reverse. Turner want noticeably better, but at least had the option of playing the field. It’s not a slight at JD that I don’t mind him moving on. But he really didn’t do much his last few seasons in Boston to make re-signing him a no-brainer..
  7. OBP = percentage of time hitter doesn’t make an out. JD isn’t paid to make outs…
  8. Too bad he was so much older last year…
  9. I don’t think the idea was to get back a lot here…
  10. An injury to Casas might just have a different trickle down. Turner to 1b, Yoshida to DH, Dunn/Duran/Verdugo to full time OF. Not seeing a need for Dalbec…
  11. You haven’t watched the Cubs lately…
  12. And I doubt including him in a larger deal has any effect other than opening a 40 man roster spot
  13. Dalbec has two skills that will appeal to several teams. 1. He can hit LHP 2. He makes the league minimum.
  14. No picking on Joe Morgan!! His hunches brought nothing but smiles to my face!! What other manager had the guts to pinch run for .350- hitting Mike Greenwell with light/hitting Kevin Romine in the 6th inning with the Sox down 6-0? Seemed crazy at the time. Until 3 innings later when Romine crushed the game-winning walk off home run!
  15. *Does not apply to David Ortiz….
  16. If you’re going solely by AL East pennants (pardon my ambiguity), then the most successful manager is John Farrell, with three. Francona, surprisingly, only had one. Farrell was certainly helped by managing in one of the weakest stretches in AL East history…
  17. Oh on this board it does…
  18. Well, bear in mind that if you measure managerial success in pennants, who the best manager in Sox history is…
  19. I have Devers in one league, just not the TalkSox league…
  20. I’m letting it go some they’re up by 6 runs with 6 outs to go…
  21. Devers hasn’t shown much lately, but the pressure isn’t on right now. The Sox don’t need him to hit on nights everyone is hitting; they need him to hit on night when no one is…
  22. I’m going to have to defend Cora somewhat. 1. It’s a safe bet Cora knew Kluber was bad, but it’s not like he had tons of options and the Sox were/still are in no position to jettison pitching depth. 2. Again, not much depth. And really, someone has to start these games. Paxton didn’t pitch for a while to start the year, and throwing Crawford/Bello/Whitlock etc all into starting roles and expecting 150 IP from each was a recipe for disaster. 3. I’d like to defend Cora here. I get giving Kike a chance. But that he kept trotting Kike out at shortstop long after Rotoworld said the experiment was over just didn’t say much. Sorry, but no MLB manager ever should get out-managed by Rotoworld…
  23. Yes, talking out white hot Duran so that Verdugo could clean up!! Such the obvious plan!
  24. Yeah not sure what Cora was “thinking” there, except maybe “how can I overmanage this?”
  25. Well, despite being relatively close, does this latest injury to Triston McKenzie push the Guardians into “Sell” mode. The talking heads on MLB Network seem to think so. (I’m not as convinced as they are.) But if the Guardians do sell, is Bieber available? (Talking heads say “yes”). If so, Shane comes with the additional year of control. BTV called Rafaela plus Yorke a “minor overpay” but probably a reasonable offer that at the very least, keeps the conversation going. Should (also, would) the Sox make that move?
