  1. Especially in late July/August…
  2. Or is he a 5 inning pitcher? His ERA in inning 1-5 is 3.38…
  3. Jacques new nickname is The Human White Flag…
  4. Duran-Rafaela-Duvall makes more sense defensively if you’re moving Verdugo. But his one year of control does make him less attractive as a trade target for other teams. Plus he expressed a desire to stay in Boston.
  5. I think the fact that sometimes we focus on the failures while forgetting about the successes. “This team made A MISTAKE!!!!”
  6. That kind of thing happens both ways. The Sox have several pitchers other teams just dumped. After being dumped by Detroit, Schreiber was All Star worthy last year. Seattle dumped Bernardino for some reason. And did you notice San Francisco Giant Dumpster Refugee (and frequent Notin Target of Hate) Mauricio Llovera now has a 0.93ERA over his last 7 appearances?
  7. For not fixing Littell in three innings?!?
  8. I loved Xander, but honestly, I don’t think I’d be loving him much in 2033…
  9. Luck? The Sox released Littell after 3IP. Let’s not confuse impatience with bad luck…
  10. … and Story got back before Mondesi…
  11. Dalbec is a 28yo AAAA player who makes less contact than most alien civilizations, and also requires a 40 man roster spot. His trade value couldn’t be lower without adding legal issues on top of things…
  12. No QO for Paxton. The purpose of the QO is to get it rejected. You don’t offer them to someone who will accept…
  13. The wall was much closer to the balls back then…
  14. It’s very likely both Houck and Crawford are two starters. I think the hope is Houck can become a lesser version of Justin Steele, as both have a similar repertoire…
  15. He might have, but I have no idea of he was willing to or not. And he refuses to answer my texts. (Although I should probably acknowledge there is a slight chance the number I randomly chose might not be him.)
  16. (Except for that NTC Splinter brought up and I looked into.)
  17. I do not see the Sox outbidding the pack for Yamamoto, whose stock just got that much better with the recent news about Julio Urias. I could see 30yo LHRP Shota Imanaga as a potential Sox target…
  18. Bogaerts did have a no trade clause…
  19. I can see teams being hesitant to take on the $7mill or so of JD regardless of the asking price in return. If Bloom really wanted to get under, Bogaerts would have been the smarter chip to deal. Even 5 months after the deadline, the best JD was able to get was a one year $10mill contract. If no one wanted him for more than $10 mill for a full season, it stands to reason that interest in him at $7mill for two months was not all that high. Bogaerts on the other hand would have been easily movable…
  20. They might have actually tried that. The 2022 JD Martinez want exactly a hot commodity…
  21. I questioned using a Jansen in the 7-3 game. I suppose he really did need the work
  22. If your gripe is that they didn’t score, the acceptable argument upon being proven wrong is not “but they didn’t score well enough.” I mean, you’re trying to argue that the offense and not the defense was the problem in a game that went to extra innings after Wilyer Abreu fell down losing a potential inning-ending routine fly ball in the dome roof that went for a run scoring triple and was part of a 3 run inning…
  23. The Sox scored the ghost runner in the 11th inning…
  24. Or we’d be making the same posts with $70mill over 4. Eflin didn’t want Boston. He wanted Tampa…
  25. Not if Tampa matched…
