  1. 162 games in 180ish days is brutal. With no adrenaline, Yoshida probably isn’t the only one just worn down…
  2. Well… https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mookie-betts-says-he-doesnt-regret-turning-down-300-million-offer-from-red-sox/ Of course now he says it was never offered. If you go back and read some old articles, Mookie simply wanted more money. Now he says that was never the case back then and that he never got an offer he has as alert admitted he turned down…
  3. Not seeing the downside there…
  4. The biggest holes are the ones atop the rotation. And they need to stop pulling pitchers out of the bullpen to fill starter roles. Not citing the 16 games the Sox used an opener, they had 4 pitchers who made at least 8 starts and 8 relief appearances. And that’s not counting Kluber, who was banished into a relief role until he was mercifully put to sleep. The rest of the lineup might already be in house. They have a glut of outfielders. They’re not likely to move defensive liabilities Devers and Casas of position. Story and Wong will certainly return. That leaves 2b…
  5. Dalbec doesn’t play well enough to garner any interest. That he also requires a 40 man roster spot just ices the lack of interest…
  6. Giants fire Gabe Kapler. Kapler and the Giants have been very successful breathing life into some fading pitching careers. Overall he has a very good track record as a manager. If Cora gets dismissed or promoted, Kapler is a very good choice…
  7. Mookie is great at a lot of things. Hitting. Fielding. Baserunning. Probably a great teammate, too. But this last trip to Fenway taught us he isn’t all that good at keeping his stories straight…
  8. Most of those business types have spent their entire career working for baseball teams…
  9. I’ll take that wager…
  10. Huh? While no one would object to improving the offense (unless it drastically weakens the defense), it’s actually not the problem with this team. Not even close. And the logic is wrong. Miami is 25th in MLB in runs scored and is very, very likely heading into the postseason…
  11. Farrell managed 3 AL East pennant winning teams - most in franchise history. He was dismissed after winning back to back AL East titles but losing in the ALCS to a team coached by his eventual garbage-drum banging replacement…
  12. The Sox only traded one year of Betts. This year is moot when evaluating that trade. If Mookie had decided to hit the open market and signed a 10 year $400mill contract with her Mets, would you still feel the same about that trade?
  13. The problem isn’t necessarily avoiding guys like Nola and Snell. It does seem like most of those major contracts don’t push teams over the top anyway. The problem was the inactivity. The Sox would have been better with simply adding Kyle Gibson, but they d do isn’t even go that far. Kluber was an understandable chance. But he flopped and was essentially discarded. And then? Plan B seemed to be to simply let the calendar run out. Even with Mluber not contributing, Wacha and Eovaldi succeeding elsewhere, Eflin spurning the Sox for a division rival - even with all that, they were still in contention on August 1. And for the second year in a row, they let contending die that day…
  14. The Scherzer contracts with Washington was labeled a massive overpay at the time. I doubt anyone in the Boston organization viewed not typing the Washington or as a mistake. And if they did and that is why they went crazy for Price, they learned the wrong lesson…
  15. I think you rely far too much on that psychic cat…
  16. Watch some other teams (Cubs, mainly) and you will learn to appreciate Cora rather quickly…
  17. I honestly don’t see the point in having him on the team NOW, never mind when they’re sneaking Rule 5 names on to the list…
  18. Dalbec is very likely to be designated for assignment this off-season and likely granted his release. And that’s ok. Not every player who reaches AAA in the farm system but can’t land a job in Boston is going to get traded away…
  19. Very true. Bloom completely tanked it two years in a row. Odd fact however. This month the Sox offense has been putting out hits at the same rate as the Starland Vocal Band, yet somehow this team is still in the top ten in MLB in runs scored…
  20. Fairfield…
  21. Dalbec isn’t blocked. He isn’t worthy…
  22. Larry was One Of Us!! Too far?
  23. Any truth to the rumors about Rock Em Sock Em Robots being added to the next summer Olympics?
  24. I take it they simply do not understand how many threads we would need to start to open the discussion about firing all those people. And you know what? They probably don’t even care…
  25. As long as it’s a promotion, they can technically conduct the interview process. Wasn’t Cora still banging the drum as the bench coach in the ALCS against the Yankees when the Sox announced he would manage the team in 2018?
