The Sox won 78 games last year with no regular 2b, no one capable of playing CF, the worst SS in the league, and no starting pitchers anyone thinks rate higher than a #3. All while playing in a division where no rival team was even at .500, let alone below. If they bump up that starting pitching, they may have addressed a vast number of these flaws. And yet the consensus is still that they got worse…

In have a feeling the notion about a player being available “for money only” is not viewed by ownership with the same enthusiasm as it is by fans. I might even go so far as to say they might bite it as a negative thing. But as long as they are not afraid to make a few trades, it can work out…

I think there is a lot of “let’s wait and see what X gets and base our demands on that.” The problem is we have Montgomery’s camp saying “let’s see what Snell gets” and Snell’s camp plotting by waiting to see what Montgomery gets. This issue gets compounded even more once you realize Montgomery and Snell both have the same agent. Conclusion: I don’t blame much of anything on Scott Boras. But slow offseasons are clearly his fault… -
It was a good bullpen that would be improved by making Houck and Whitlock full time members.

We all want the team to be better, with the exception of one guy, who only wants the team to be more expensive. I don’t care if they do out via some sort of Tampa model or what. I do think going crazy spending on pitching is a double edged sword that can create short term success, but definitely will create a long term detriment to the team. As I’d like them in the running every year, I don’t mind when this gets avoided. I do think this team is already improved, but could use some rotation help. And probably some depth…
