Clevinger was just a story that may have been nothing more than text in an AP blurb. It’s not like Domingo German and Aroldis Chapman, who have both been suspended, but still managed to get jobs afterwards. And are both looking for work today. (German might end up overseas, but I can promise you Chapman gets a deal from someone in MLB very soon.)

One might think teams would have clauses in their contracts that say “by the way, if you go to jail or get kicked out of the league, we stop paying you!! Like, that day, dude!!” If so, in some cases teams might fear those deals because they think the player WON’T turn into Wander Franco… -

Swihart wasn’t a very good catcher. Turns out, he was a worse OF. Holt never played 70 games in the OF in a season, and he played everywhere for Boston except pitcher and catcher. It’s misleading to say he was converted to outfield…

I think Grissom gets a chance right away, simply because there is no other appeasing option. I can see it as a win for both teams. A healthy Sale is a massive loss, but we haven’t seen a healthy Sale since 2018. Atlanta had no place to play Grissom, but was willing to gamble on a SP they hope can pitch this year…

And there was no need at 2b, which is why Betts was moved. If the Sox didn’t have Pedroia, they very likely never move Betts to the outfield…
