  1. I knew they were never going to add him, but it was definitely a move they needed. The only real downside is it pushed Yoshida to a full time OF role. And I’d take a weak LF over weak corner INF spots. And there are several journalists out there who think Devers’ days at 3b are numbered and he is a 1b/DH in the making, if not a full time DH…
  2. Yeah why improve the team defense at two positions with one move? And get the RHH bat Breslow has been supposedly searching for all off-season in that same move?
  3. Chapman to the Giants for 3yr $54mill. That’s a dropped ball by Breslow…
  4. We’ve seen the extremes of Duran’s offense the last two seasons. The only real issue I have with him that he’s really only capable of playing LF. If he could hand centerfield, either he or Rafaela could become expendable. Sort of makes me wonder why he was ever moved off second base…
  5. It’s more of a “should” than a “will”. I will say the 6 year $150mill deal MLBTR predicted for Chapman looks extremely far from likely, and there is a chance he becomes affordable. Especially since there has been almost no buzz on him all off-season…
  6. Or Duran, which they have explored…
  7. Yeah predictable and boring. But hey, Matt Chapman is still looking for work and can secure our infield defense…
  8. I like Duran-Rafaela-O’Neill as the starting OF. Bench? McGuire, Reyes, Refsnyder and Dalbec is the likely bench. Although Cron and Valdez could work their way in. And frankly, a decent defensive OF might make some sense…
  9. I hope Rafaela does not make the 26 unless he is going to play every day. Dalbec is an acceptable OF backup, simply because backups don't play all that often. If Refsnyder can start 38 games in LF, Dalbec cannot be too much of a step down from that, if one at all...
  10. I hope he gets a start at shortstop, just so Tomase gets another apoplectic attack...
  11. 3b, corner OF. And he can play 2b and SS in an emergency…
  12. Gotta duplicate that .381 BABIP…
  13. Interesting. Now go get Chapman and maybe Montgomery…
  14. Might be outdated. I never read it either, but saw it cited frequently…
  15. Not a theory. It was based on some study someone did. However I don’t know of it is still valid as there may have been improvements in the surgery that nullify the older data points since the study was first done…
  16. Out of curiosity, can you briefly state each side of the argument?
  17. Actually stuff like that is rampant online. Ranking things for the sake of ranking things. The trick is to have a comments section so people can complain…
  18. They’re very good. They used to be overly optimistic, now in think they might be a bit overly pessimistic. Of course, in that line of work, pessimism might be tantamount to credibility…
  19. Yes, but I don’t put faith in W-L records for pitchers. Did you know his 6 wins that year was third on the Yankees for starting pitchers? (Jameson Taillon, at 8-6, was second). Did you know the 2021 Yankees epitomize why pitcher W-L records really don’t matter much? (Hint: that bullpen grabbed lots of wins, because that can happen in today’s bullpen-based game that has gone a long way towards marginalizing the W-L record for pitchers) I’m guessing you didn’t know that, or you never would have mentioned the 2021 Yankees in this discussion. Well, you might have. I’m not entirely convinced you understand the point yet. You still seem to think it’s about Montgomery…
  20. It’s hard for any team to have six prospects that they can count on. Yorke hasn’t been particularly impressive since A ball. He may not have a future starting any time soon…
  21. Do you have an argument that doesn’t involve misrepresenting opposing viewpoints? I guess that’s half of your two part arsenal. 1. Misrepresent opposing viewpoint 2. Repeatedly claim opponents misrepresent yours, especially when they don’t.
  22. Even well-known by the guy who talked about all those “bad bad Yankee teams” he pitched for? He had 2 full seasons in the Yankees, not counting 2020 for obvious reasons…
  23. He’s also really only had 4 full seasons. (That should be a bigger concern, although starting 94 games and pitching 524 innings in the last three does at least offer some hope.)
  24. Stopping responding would be better than telling everyone else to. Work with what you can control…
