  1. Back tightness…
  2. The backend of this bullpen is full of question marks (although technically Joely is an exclamation point after an expletive). Pitchers like Rodriguez and Weissert are depth option buried at the bottom of the 40 whose position on their Topps Card should read “In Case of Emergency”, not players on the roster on opening day…
  3. I imagine Joely was kept over Bernardino because the latter had options. (Joely was on a minor league deal, but with an upward mobility clause.) The big problem was the Sox pushed two relievers into the pen and only signed one reliever to replace them, and that was Joely. They ignored plenty of better options on the market. This is basically the exact same thing Bloom did last year…
  4. I think you misspelled “O”….
  5. Well, a lot of these guys go to college essentially to major in baseball. There’s no Master’s degree in baseball…
  6. That made zero sense to me. I thought Dombrowski handled it poorly, but assumed he would do the smart thing. He never did (although Bloom might have made it tougher)…
  7. I have an injunction…
  8. I wonder if the overall low expectations for the Sox this year has kept some of the rabble of the game threads…
  9. That’s being ridiculous. And why I largely ignore game threads…
  10. I have been, but it’s contingent on SP health and durability…
  11. Disagree. If you put him in, you get the credit. If a reliever comes in with the bases loaded and no one out, and he induces sac fly, K, K, he did a tremendous job limiting damage, but he should be charged with an earned run?
  12. Unless she was deep under cover…
  13. Maybe she did…
  14. The ultimate cover would be repeatedly bullying your own alter ego. Think about what it would be like if Spider-Man and Peter Parker each constantly explained to every character on the same page/scene how he was going to bring the other down. Ok it might have been weird that superhero Spider-Man had this weird fixation that his arch-nemesis was a nerdy high school kid. But I think it would have made these stories even better.
  15. More expensive than a car…
  16. Unless you want Dijon, which is $27.50…
  17. But at least he stopped doing broadcasts in his underwear…
  18. I wish they had. I’m just left guessing. Archery? Interior design? Snowboarding? Card tricks? I’m sure it’s something…
  19. Unless their owner goes all John Henry and they don’t extend Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson and instead trade both away for some futuristic version of Jeter Downs…
  20. Better at what? I’m sure Uwasawa is better at lots of things. Better cook, for example. Could be. Better chess player maybe. Better at cosplay, perhaps? The only activity I’m certain of is that Yamamoto is better at pitching…
  21. 1. Absolutely. It’s a delicious feast laden with nostalgia. 2. Am I the only moron who thought the team moniker was “Ham Fighter” and their logo was or should have been a hitter standing at the plate wielding a large ham by the bone at the base as if it was a bat?
  22. I’m at 82 right now. But if this team can get 140+ starts and 700+ innings from the opening day rotation, I’m prepared to go as high as 87+ wins and a postseason berth…
  23. Yes I marveled at that uncut gem and decided it summed him up nicely…
  24. Uwasawa got roughed up by the Braves for 7ER in 2 IP. If you ignore that one outing and just look at the rest of his spring, his ERA drops from a pathetic 13.03 to a less pathetic but still pathetic 8.22. I know it’s a small sample size, but so far he’s just flat out hittable. Maybe he can channel his Inner Hideki Okajima? The only likable thing about him is he pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters. Good for two reasons. First, NPB does seem like the more competitive Japanese League. And second, if you do have a favorite Japanese team, it damn well better be the Nippon Ham Fighters. Everyone else is much less ham-tastic…
  25. Still taking the over
