Last year he did make bad decisions.
I was at the games in Chicago against the White Sox. In the Sunday game of that series, Casas had the ball when Andrew Benintendi rounded 2b and was HALFWAY from second to third. (My seat was behind 1b so I had an excellent vantage point.). Not sure how far Benintendi appeared to be off second on TV, but he was halfway and stopped there, watching Casas with the ball. Casas noticed Benintendi and threw the ball to 2b. Benny broke for third and beat the second relay.
Casas had three options there.
1. Hold the ball and charge Benintendi, forcing him to commit to a base. (Best option)
2. Throw the ball to third. (Safest option.)
3. Throw the ball to 2b. (Worst by far.)
It’s just one play, but he couldn’t have handled it worse…
