  1. Do they also have rules against pearl necklaces like the ones worn by Joc Pederson and Brayan Bello?
  2. And while it’s nice knowing the lineup, I like the idea of having some decisions. That 10th player who deserves to start is a good thing, at least until modern medicine figures out how to eliminate injuries forever…
  3. Yeah but what is a week? I mean, a day is the amount of time for a full rotation of the Earth. A month represents the amount of time for the moon to orbit the Earth. A year represents the amount of time for the Earth to orbit the sun. A millennium represents the amount of time it takes for the f***ing NHL playoffs. But what is a week?
  4. Yes. 7 days ago, his OPS was .820. Hamilton hasn’t had an OPS that high over any season since he played for the Texas Longhorns. (Not counting the AFL, which is only a couple weeks.) He served well as the stopgap shortstop, and might have even played his way into a utility role in the future. But he isn’t the answer this year, and benching him to play Yoshida is very likely…
  5. My daughter keeps saying the Yankees did Verdugo dirty by making him shave and look like a 12 year old. But you’re saying the Yankees have even more asinine rules to adhere to…
  6. This Sox team went 2-2 against the White Sox, whom many have argued might be the worst team in MLB in the past 20 years. Then took 4 of 6 from the two best teams in MLB. I just can’t gage anything from their opponents any more …
  7. Mays also holds the record (tied with Aaron and Musial) for most All Star games with 24…
  8. If the Sox do sell - and I’m not on that ship - I think O’Neill would be difficult. Unless another team has an injury easily filled by a Sox player, I think the starters don’t get moved. Jansen and Martin? Everyone needs bullpen help? Pivetta - starting pitcher for actual rotation depth? I could see it. But I think someone like Refsnyder will be in more demand than O’Neill. Plenty of teams will be looking for RHH bench bats that can handle LHP…
  9. Does that mean we can trade him for an infield prospect?
  10. He's a utility infielder. Right now his future in Boston is probably threatened by the resurgence of David Hamilton. But he is a better overall player than Dalbec...
  11. Who said you want Grissom DFAd? You added that in to duck the question. Well played, but not unnoticed…
  12. Absolutely. That’s really what’s holding Dalbec back - those opposing pitchers. I tell you, sometimes I think they actually want him to fail at the plate…
  13. So Grissom has a 78 OPS+ and you’ve already labeled him a bust, while in the same timeframe Dalbec has a 66 OPS+ and struck out in 38% of his plate appearances (as opposed to Grissom’s 21%), and yet you’re telling me Dalbec is the keeper?!?!
  14. He flat out catches stuff better than Dalbec. And has done so at multiple positions, including SS, which is more difficult than 3b. Also, he hits better, too.
  15. On all matters relating to Dalbec, it certainly seems so…
  16. But now with JD Davis on the waiver wire, what does Dalbec bring that Davis can’t do? (Dalbec is a faster runner.) Davis’ OPS is some .250 points higher than Dalbec’s. Why are the Sox holding on to him when worse teams are DFAing better players at the same position? Boston is probably the only team in MLB that would not have already DFAd Dalbec…
  17. I hear he’s learning to cook pregame meals. You do have to respect his versatility…
  18. Because he knows the code for the locker room keypad. That’s the only reason…
  19. Wait. Are people advocating acquiring a RH bat while advocating benching RHH Tyler O’Neill?
  20. Pitch clock and pick off limits are huge. Ian Hamilton made two quick pick off attempts at David Hamilton last night. After the second I was thinking “David Hamilton can take 45 foot lead right now and there’s nothing Ian Hamilton can do.” I really didn’t use their full names, but it looked confusing when I just used Hamilton for both…
  21. I thought they increased the base size to make it safer for middle infielders to turn double plays in the absence of the Neighborhood Play…
  22. Incorrect. They never said that about stolen bases. Analytics discussed what success rates impact runs scoring. Now they did at one point recommend minimizing stealing bases if you are maximizing launch angle/exit velocity, because the increase in home runs should decrease the need for stolen bases. But that’s not the same thing. Anyway, from 2018, there is this: https://batflipsandnerds.com/2018/11/03/analytics-and-its-effects-on-the-mlb-the-stolen-base/
  23. He’s serviceable defensively at any non-battery position, except possibly CF, as he has just the one inning out there for his career. His osffense goes up and down, because he’s only been getting about 90PA per season. I’m ok with Romy over Westy…
