  1. We’re just talking about Sonic fries here. Not like I expect Five Guys fries every year…
  2. First of all, why does credit have to be all or nothing? Can we just acknowledge he’s part of it without brining in everyone else’s names? You know, like we do for EVERYONE ELSE? Second, I’m guessing he’d rather miss the playoffs with a cheap team than with an expensive one. Wouldn’t you if you owned the team? Third - he did spend heavily for some of those sub-.500 last place finishes. Not sure what you mean by “lose a lot” with his 7th sub-.500 finish…
  3. BTV would have accepted Anthony (51.1) and Fitts (4.8) for Crochet (53.5). But I doubt Getz would have. Again, he’s in no rush to move Crochet, unless you think his arbitration costs are going to get very steep very fast…
  4. f***ing cheap ass Henry!
  5. That and the White Sox have said they’re open to moving Luis Robert and Crochet. It’s more than likely they mean “assuming you meet our price, which will not be considered cheap or fair by any measure.” Especially since both players can be controlled for 3 seasons beyond this one. So, no real rush here. If it’s a “blow us out of the water with your offer” scenario, BTV deals are no longer relevant…
  6. The Sox can deal him and extend him later. It’s not like Pivetta is in the running for a QO…
  7. I think the problem is John Henry IS a baseball guy, something corroborated but numerous former employees. And as he is a baseball guy, he has decided it makes more sense to build his team to capitalize on metrics as opposed to just building it with financial capital. I mean, he did fire John Farrell after back to back division titles and replaced him with the extremely metric-savvy Alex Cora for a reason, and I doubt that reason related to the entire “winning in spite of him” nonsense. Henry has reached the point where he can win by spending or win by metrics. The latter is more difficult but it’s cheaper and easier to undo or redo…
  8. I mean, depending on the Sonic coupons…
  9. Pros and cons to each. Drury is normally the better player, however. But if I’m want to improve the middle infield for the Sox, I’m not looking for a 2b…
  10. Tell him to man up…
  11. Murphy will carry their bags. Those other guys had arm surgery, after all…
  12. Rather than look into Drury, what about the recently DFAd Cavan Biggio?
  13. Plenty of fans do, actually. Fangraphs has a rather large community that posts on their articles, all of whom buy into their advanced stat models. Heck, I’ve seen people citing StatCast data on Yahoo Fantasy Forums, where there is no category for exit velocity or barrel percentage. Those type of stats are more popular than you realize. In fact, I bet fWAR is one of the most popular stats for voting for All Stars, if not the most popular…
  14. So… Tanner Scott? Tanner Bibee? Tanner Banks? Dig up Tanner Roark?
  15. It should be. But they’ll probably at still stick him in there until his arm completely separates from his shoulder…
  16. With LD/GB/FB splits of 18.1%/59%/22.9%, I agree a BABIP of .207 is very unlucky…
  17. Brandon Drury and his .470 OPS seems like more of the same. A shortstop makes more sense while letting Hamilton and/or Grissom play 2b…
  18. Exactly what aspect of post #4526 are you challenging? I said the 2016 and 2017 teams 1) won only 93 games and that 2) it’s not exactly a commanding total (supported by it being the lowest total in the history of the current AL East) and 3) it was probably a statement about the AL East at the time. And it is, that through a three year stretch, the lowest total in current division history was reached also the maximum for wins. Now the division was improving, since in 2018 you had the 108 win Red Sox, the 100 win Yankees, and the 90 win Rays. Not sure how any of this gets refuted by the run differential of the 2016 team…
  19. If anything his value likely goes down after this year, as he is eligible for arbitration prior to next season…
  20. Nope. But you can read the boards to get values of players...
  21. BTV says it’s possible for Anthony and Fitts. No idea if the White Sox like those posers or just view Crochet better than the neutral BTV…
  22. If he sells off Jansen, Martin, Pivetta, etc. I’m (begrudgingly) on board. And if he simultaneously buys Garret Crochet, I’m excited …
  23. I peaked ahead. The lead guitarist who formed the band was born in London, England. Also possible they wanted to be separated from the FOX sketch comedy show “In Living Color,” which was still popular the time…
  24. I get what you’re saying, but you’re not correct. You’re trying to discount better first place teams as part of the overall strength of the division. “The 2021 Rays could have won the division with 93 wins.” But they won 100, and their presence as a 100 win team did make the AL East stronger that year. There was no such team in 2016 and 2017…
