  1. BTV would think you’re a Mets’ fan. Boston gives up Yoshida (-21), Abreu (29.7), and Casas (27.9) to receive Miller (54.4), Garver (-13) and Haniger (-18). Lose about $10mil in surplus value. Seattle gets Casas, Yoshida, and Brett Baty (0.1) for the three Sox above. About even for them. The Mets get Abreu (29.7) for Baty (0.1). They benefit the most and by a lot. Boston’s job isn’t to weaken their roster to help the Mariners and Mets. We reserve that privilege for the Braves…
  2. Agreed. If (big “if”) the Sox do decide to re-arrange the infield to accommodate Campbell, a better alignment is Devers at 1b, Campbell at 2b, Story at 3b and Mayer at SS. Maybe not the best alignment, but better than Campbell at 3b. (Casas to DH or trade? I have my doubts.) Campbell’s lack of a position might position him as trade fodder as well.
  3. Hyperbolic, but it wasn’t called The Reset Button trade for nothing. If you measure by player count, it was not the bulk. But what if you measure by contract value remaining?
  4. He left Ben with a team that quit in early September. Ben unloaded the bulk of them and won a World Series a year later…
  5. Actually no. That all gets explained in “Air Bud: Automated Strike Clone”….
  6. As mentioned earlier, this is an origin story. So it’s a prequel. Buddy’s downfall comes in the next feature “Air Bud: Fixed By Pitch”
  7. Wasn’t the Beckett trade done by Hoyer and Cherington while Theo was doing his Count of Monte Cristo thing in a gorilla suit?
  8. The working title is “Air Bud: Safe At Turd”
  9. I hear Carrot Top has signed on to play you in the movie…
  10. For your sake, I hope Kennedy uses flavored shoe polish…
  11. I think the only ones who consider Crawford’s future role as “unknown” are the ones who don’t want to accept it. His role is established. He will be a starter next season, and most likely with the Boston Red Sox…
  12. That’s been my assumption. But now he has a rebuilt elbow. And he does have a past that includes successful stints as a starter. It’s one thing if he’s a candidate to hold the rotation slot for Giolito. That’s not so bad. I just hope they don’t bank on him in the rotation all year…
  13. Right, because we now know past injuries cannot predict future injuries…
  14. Oh, Coffee Boy!
  15. Absolutely true. I’d fire you on Day One. Possibly even Day Zero if I had the means to do so. But on the bright side, I’d re-hire you quickly. It would only be so I could fire you again, but I’ll let you find the positive takeaway…
  16. Hoping Bernardino and Weissert are missing by then. Am I the only one suspecting Fulmer might go to the rotation?
  17. Put me in charge and I’ll sink this team to previously unforeseen depths. I’ll go where no team has gone before, except maybe the 2024 White Sox. It’s more of a prediction than a promise or threat. I’m straight up Board Talk and nothing else…
  18. Hopefully they offer Anthony a Chourio deal and he accepts. Than his potential Super Two becomes irrelevant…
  19. BTV is only one source, but they value Abreu ($29.7 mill) higher than Casas ($27.9mill) The primary reason is 5 years of control for Abreu and 4 years for Casas. Secondary reason is Abreu has more defensive value, playing a tougher position better than Casas plays an easier one. BTV gets their values through projected WAR vs projected salary. Again, one source but most teams if not all probably do something similar…
  20. 1. Duran 2. Ellsbury 3. Erstadt
  21. Been texting Jerry Dipoto again?
  22. … unless Duran is having a career year and next season reverts to being the player he was last year…
  23. I think we can go back further to at least the end of the 2018 World Series.
  24. How about a blockbuster? Jarren Duran (surplus value - $86mill) to Seattle for Logan Gilbert ($88mill) i don’t see it happening either, but it makes sense for both teams on some level…
  25. And Abreu is not a good fit to bat against LHP. If the Sox trade Yoshida for Garver, they can put both in vs LHP, which is an improvement. Just platooning Refsnyder in somewhere is the status quo…
