  1. Anthony? Why not throw in Duran as well? Every trade is NOT an opportunity to unload a deal you don’t like. Why drive up the price on the last 2 years of a pitcher who hasn’t pitched since 2023 just so the first Sox injury can get Romy into the starting lineup? BTV suggests Abreu and Hamilton is fair. I think they overvalue Hamilton. Maybe Abreu, but only slightly. Abreu and Arias for Alcantara? It seems reasonable. Miami might prefer a bigger name. But 5 years of a 3+ year Gold Glove RF plus a top 100 prospect for two years of Alcantara? Fair or not? And would it interest Miami, who might prefer an unfair deal?
  2. My baseball nut daughter does the college one to me. Also she likes to see how many of the ten headshots randomly chosen each day on baseball-reference.com I can guess. (Exact opposite of this game.). Or read off all the teams a guy played for and make me guess the player…
  3. You’d think that giant red question mark face would be immediately recognizable…
  4. No. When I Google “Red Sox Alcantara”, the top ten matches are about Marvin. Theres one article about a Red Sox/Mets trade war, but it’s a Fansided article, which means it has less journalistic relevance than the forums on Baseballtradevalues.com…
  5. Chapman and Wilson…
  6. I’ve been assuming all along we’d get Devers at 3b, Bregman at 2b, and Yoshida at DH. But now I’m pivoting towards thinking it will be Bregman at 3b, Grissom at 2b, and Devers at DH…
  7. Don’t forget Mr. March - Jeff Bailey!
  8. Hamilton is limited in the field, but valuable as a pinch runner, which is more useful now until they drop the gimmicky and ridiculous ghost runner rule…
  9. I agree Devers was just being human. But ultimately, plan shared or not, the job of each ideal to do what the manager says. And I think they will when Cora actually tells them. Of course at this point, this is just media frenzy. Devers, Casas and Bregman better not be caught sharing a bucket of chicken over a few cold ones. Hell will definitely break loose if that happens…
  10. I think his translator was covering himself over all tha Devers’ money he lost betting on baseball games. Start a controversy, he thought. Draw attention away…
  11. I could see him there temporarily. From what I understand, he plays the position passably. But he might not be the best option if the need is long term…
  12. But they are allowed to be human and be disappointed or unhappy at the prospect of it. Lost in all this is Bregman might not only be the best defensive 3rd baseman oil camp, he might also be the best defensive second baseman. At least they have potential improvement there, although it might mean finding a new position for Campbell for a bit when they decide to use him…
  13. I’m not sure how Jordan even gets into the argument. His chances of playing third base for the Red Sox this season are only marginally better than mine. He’s not third on the depth chart..
  14. He will. I didn’t renew my contract for him on my fantasy team. I expect him to EXPLODE now…
  15. And maybe they will when Cora makes one. At this point in ST, is it really necessary?
  16. I think stories about his complaints vastly outnumber his actual complaints.
  17. Still involves benching Rafaela. Refsnyder works just as well (or better?) in a DH platoon…
  18. I’d do it to get Anthony in the lineup. Maybe limit Rafaela to a super utility / RHH platoon in RF. Demote Romy to Worcester…
  19. I think the idea might be those skills are not worth much on the IL…
  20. If they do decide to actually move Rafaela off a starting role, he could at a minimum handle any RF platoon with Abreu, and leave everyone else as is. Refsnyder then platoons at DH with Yoshida. Yoshida doesn't hit LHP well, but he is among their best vs RHP. If Anthony (or Campbell) makes the team and plays LF full time, I could see the merit in that.. Anthony appears slated (per soxprospects) to start in CF in Worcester. Not sure if anyone sees that position in his future...
  21. They also project Yoshida to start the year on the IL. Is he actually hurt? Either way, this aligns with my prediction that Campbell/Anthony would make the team in the event of an injury, a situation you called "highly unlikely"...
