  2. I rooted for Rodney Harrison, Curtis Dillon, and Randy Moss, and I was prepared to root for Albert Haynesworth. I could handle rooting for Manny Machado. He might be a thug, but at least he wasn't a Yankee...
  3. I do. I think that's a horrible story to use as a cover-up. As a Patroits' fan, think other teams' fans would like it if the SpyGate resolution was "The NFL has determined that the Patroits were only filming the walk through to make sure the Rams were not using any illegal formations"? Or if the DeflateeGate excuse was "The Patroits were only trying... " Oh, wait. DeFlateGate doesn't need an excuse since the entire thing was a media fabrication that the Patriots were actually punished for....
  4. Pffffft I was a geek long before I was a dad. My degree is ion mechanical engineering. That’s like majoring in geek in college...
  5. So MLB decided that the Astros get to be the police? Maybe they could also let the Astros catcher call balls and strikes while they’re at it...
  6. But if the Sox do get Machado, he’ll be committing his acts of thuggery against other trams’ players. Whereas if he signs elsewhere, he remains a potential threat to Sox middle infielders...
  7. That one greenwell posted does make it look like the ball changes direction very slightly when it passes the bottom bar of the window...
  8. Not sure. Up to DD. But we are talking about a guy who didn't exactly win a lot of admirers with his lack of hustle in a post-season game and really, is not all that reliable about showing up for work. The Sox will probably be looking to upgrade in the pen including at closer if they don't re-sign Kimbrel, and possibly at catcher or third base (with Devers maybe sliding across the diamond). They can't afford to have a drunken sailor free agent spending spree and don't have too many marketable prospects. When it comes to trade bait, and DD certainly likes making trades, one has to think Rodriguez and maybe Swihart are both far from untouchable. Maybe a deal involving Rodriguez for Jake Lamb?
  9. Depends. Is it stressful against the 7-8-9 hitters?
  10. And therefore can be acquired for two middling prospects if the Sox also take a player making about $5-6mill for one season along with him, right? Alex Colome and Erasmo Ramirez for Mike Sharwyn and Chase Shugart sound about right?
  11. Don't blame me. Blame Dombrowski...
  12. And the "closer by committee" failure 1) never had a committee and 2) should have been overshadowed by the entire bullpen pitching poorly...
  13. And was acquired along with3 months of Denard Span's contract by the Mariners for two prospects outside of their top 30. How much did Colome improve since last June?
  14. THat is true, but that is because viedo replay has to be weighed against the original call with clear proof that it was wrong...
  15. MLB teams trying to steal signs is't news. MLB teams being stupid enough to get caught is...
  16. I think he's trade bait this off-season...
  17. That's got a pretty good angle that shows the ball might be hitting the frame of the windows for inning scores. Honestly, even if it play occured in the ninth inning with two outs and the Sox trailing by a run with the bases loaded, I wouldn't fault the umpires for calling that out...
  18. Looks like it goes directly into his glove to me. https://sports.yahoo.com/unbelievable-leaping-catch-tony-kemp-killed-red-sox-rally-alcs-game-3-224028491.html
  19. Didn't he win a Minor League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2016? Either he's struggling to adjust or nervous, or the rest of the minor league players in 2016 couldn't catch a cold if they were naked in Norway...
  20. Well, it does make for much easier press conferences for managers, when asked why they went to some pitcher who eventually coughed up the lead. Before they had to go thru some whole justification about why Pitcher X was on the mound, but since teams started using designated closers, there's no point in even asking the question...
  21. It was a great catch, but even if it wasn't, it would hardly be the first close call in MLB history to go the wrong way. Nothng to see here...
  22. Apparently the Dodgers claim the Astros did this last year in the World Series. If so, they are doubly stupid for trying it against Boston, since our manager was in their dugout last year. Or maybe the Dodgers are just paranoid finger pointers, which also happens a lot in professional sports...
  23. Wow. Even I forgot about that incredibly specific and mildly useful statistic...
  24. You mean WAPM/UAPM? I’ve certainly thought about including. Links to BDC would certainly have been helpful...
  25. I am so putting an application in for that..
