  1. The Brewers had the best record in the NL with no starting pitching. This isn’t the Orioles’ staff we’re talking about...
  2. Flash in the pan does seem more likely. The Sox will have 2 more minimum wage years to determine which one he is...
  3. He’s already been in pinstripes and he spent most of that entire tenure on the disabled list. Teams going higher than 2 years need to be prepared for him missing a full season’s worth of games. Unless some team signs him to make him a closer. The reduced workload might agree with his arm...
  4. Why? Kimbrel’s next contract is about what he can give you for the next 4-5 years, not about what he did for one week in October...
  5. Me either. Kimbrel will certainly ask at least double what Eovaldi does. And it will be easier to find another closer than starter at that price...
  6. Who learns to spell anymore? You posting from an Etch and Sketch or something? What’s next? You going to start forgetting phone numbers?
  7. Slow down. He might not even have 6 years left in his career...
  8. Most Vanquished Player?
  9. I’m honestly questioning this. He still has major health reasons that will suppress his price tag. This is s guy who missed all of 2017, after all. Much like how no one ever gave a long term commitment to Brett Anderson, Eovaldi is probably looking at 2 years, which is the current trend for oft-injured pitchers...
  10. Yeah but I can’t get to LA for a game. Milwaukee is less than an hour away. Go Brew Crew !!
  11. Exactly. And comparing a relief pitcher whose entire career was relatively coddled to the relievers from the 60’s and 70’s isn’t fair. And comparing those old relievers to relief pitchers from the 1930’s and 40’s - where relief pitchers were starters in between starts - is equally misleading...
  12. Part of that might be because no manager has gone to his bullpen faster than Counsell. And I don’t mean this postseason; I mean in postseason history...
  13. Agreed. Plus some of their guys have been here before, as I mentioned...
  14. All that said, I want Milwaukee to go. It’s close enough I might get to go to a game...
  15. The Astros bullpen had a rough series. That doesn’t mean Milwaukee’s will also collapse...
  16. One could argue the Brewers should have the same “happy to be here” effect in the NLCS, but they’re still battling. Counting on their collapse is tantamount to taking them lightly. And just because no one has worn a Brewers uniform in the World Series doesn’t make them completely inexperienced, as they have several players who have played in the Fall Classic before, including Lorenzo Cain, Mike Moustskas, and Joakim Soria, to name a few...
  17. The Brewers have a ragtag rotation that just seems to get it done, but their bullpen is flat out scary...
  18. The Sox won this series with almost nothing offensively from MVP candidate Betts, no pitching contribution from Cy Young candidate Sale, and a lot of shakiness from their closer Kimbrel...
  19. But you don't have to make payments on that goblet for 6 or 7 years when it is very clear to everyone else in the world that you will be lucky if it last 2 years. And you certainly don't have to think John Henry owes it to his fans to buy every goblet you want....
  20. I say - cover the ball with tacks so fans don't want to catch it. Or spread some myth like "catching baseballs in the stands is the leading cause of HPV and divorce"...
  21. I have a Dave Henderson on line 2 for you...
  22. If you meant $7-10 mill per season for two years, you were probably right. Eovaldi has age on his side but a major injury history working against him. Rich Hill left Boston the last time and received a one year $6mill contract from Oakland, which is hardly a "pay day". But it is a pretty good deal considering he only started 4 games for the Sox that year...
  23. All 4 are correct. Two more...
  24. The quote is “pitching, defense, and 3-run homers.” It still fits..,
  25. Trivia time Name the 6 players on the 2018 Red Sox who played on the team in 2013...
