    Doesn’t matter who said it. Eaton’s splits are nothing impressive and he lacks the same skillset as Refsnyder. Now Eaton does possess some skills Refsnyder is sorely lacking, like fielding, throwing, running. If Cora prefers Eaton’s over Refsnyder, I can understand it if it’s for those skills. But not it it’s about splits…

    You eliminated the part about the last 90 games, which I assumed most would interpret to mean “after Devers”, and not “hey let’s include Devers anyway” After Devers was traded, Boston.’s DHs put up a wRC+ of 96 with 9 HRs and 44 RBI. So yes, I stand by that…

    I think the goal is one big trade. The focus has been for Duran, but they haven’t apparently had any worthy offers. And really, I haven’t heard any bad offers, just team interested and the occasional clickbait from a clueless writer. Now watch them go and deal Rafaela instead…

    Straining? It’s easy. I have several reasons to think the Sox stay on a budget. They include 2021, 2022, 2023. I also don’t buy into “replace Player X” when looked at in a vacuum. 2025 vs 2026 to date C: Narvaez vs Narvaez. I could see getting a better catcher. Sox have been rumored to be in on a few. But for now - status quo 1b - Abraham Toro v Willson Contreras. Toro lead the team in PAs from 1b. The Sox have upgraded. SS - Story vs Story. We will leave him at SS for now and call it status quo. OF - Duran/Rafaela/Abreu vs, hmmm let’s say Anthony/Rafaela/Abreu. It’s close. 2026 probably gets a slight edge DH: Devers vs Yoshida. Devers is better but Yoshida is a good hitter. Plus at some point I expect Casas and Romy in the mix. While no Devers, that trio is probably an upgrade over the last 90 games from the Sox. 2b or 3b is a mystery for 2026. If they get Marte, the lineup is pribably better. A lot does depend on a Duran trade…

    More value than Hunter Greene probably starts with Roman Anthony. Don’t be fooled into thinking recent acquisitions of JJ Bleday and Dane Myers have fulfilled Cincy’s outfield needs. Bleday and Myers are grown men capable of making MLB rosters who happen to know where the outfield is, but they are not solutions for teams seeking outfield production.     Weren’t the Sox better off without it? I know some folksy simpletons like to say that’s irrelevant because the starting pitching carried. Those people must get whiplash watching the point whiz by. This isn’t fantasy baseball where the Sox are chasing categories. Right now, DH is likely set with a combination of Yoshida, Casas and Gonzalez. Or maybe Duran if he doesn’t get traded. The Sox are probably set in 8 positions, possibly allow 9 if they never move Duran and make the unwise but still possible move of putting Rafaela at 2b. Or SS…

    Stop. He’s not a bad player; he just shouldn’t be a starter. I’d take Hamilton on my bench any day. And even as a strong side platoon player if I ran a small market team. Hamilton was worth 2.4 bWAR in 2024 in only 98 games and 300 PA. That’s similar to the kind of production you get in 150 games and 600+ PA from Isaac Paredes, and some folks think he is worth Duran in a trade…

    I can’t assume a conditional statement. (If the Reds are willing…) I don’t think Paredes falls into the same category as Lodolo when it comes to trading away Duran. I (incorrectly?) have pegged Lodolo as his ceiling for a starting pitcher return. I stick with that. If Breslow is asking for Ragans, he is aiming high and looking at SP. But part of that post was the extremely likely scenario that Cincy was not trading Lodolo for Duran…
