  1. Darren Bragg. If you invite him to a party, I don’t want to sit next to him. Maybe Rougned Odor can...
  2. And an outfielder named Jon Jay. Very historical team...
  3. He didn’t miss a single inning in 2017 for that reason. Thornburg is trying to come back from an injury that is very difficult to come back from...
  4. I’d like to see Mejia, too. Demote Smith, who was only called up to start a game that got rained out anyway. And the Sox still have two open spots on the 40-man roster. I suppose the concern is similar to Thornburg in that he hasn’t pitched much in recent years and you can only dedicate so many bullpen spots to rusty pitchers relegated solely to mop up work...
  5. In the pairings department, the White Sox currently have two relievers named Ian Hamilton and Ryan Burr...
  6. Even with some good competition, On Deadly Ground is the stupidest Seagal movie of them all. Yeah I’m sure the Alaskan government appreciated his take on the oil industry...
  7. It is currently raining here
  8. Well, in high school, I was voted Most Likely to Rationally Defend Injured Relief Pitchers...
  9. But I doubt they call up Castillo. Gorkys is probably ahead of him solely for financial reasons. At least he (or any of the other Pawtucket outfielders) aren’t blocking anyone by taking roster spots. The best OF prospect the Sox have above A-ball is probably Marcus Wilson, and he’s only been with the organization for 2 weeks...
  10. Most of his problems probably stem from only pitching 24 innings total over the last two seasons...
  11. I don’t think Thornburg will get DFAd. (Kiss of Death with my prediction?) His velocity is up nearly a full mph from last year and just shy of where it was in Milwaukee when he was an effective reliever. I think they have hope he can straighten a few things up in some mop up spots...
  12. He was always a good defensive outfielder, but he was reckless and prone to injuring himself on the field. Las go round in Boston came after he hurt his shoulder diving for a flyball and subsequently became a ground ball machine at the plate...
  13. As bad as the entire Castillo contract situation is, it’s not like the Sox are alone here. The Giants, for example, are LOADED with bad, immovable contracts for aging and rapidly declining players. I’d be hesitant to label the Sox “idiots” over one deal that didn’t work out...
  14. AA is probably the most important step, when all the three levels of A ball get condensed into one league and the talent attrition gets maximized. AAA is barely developmental anymore and is for stashing minor league free agents and 40 man roster overspill. Why skip the most important step with Duran? Stay the course with Duran, who is still only on A ball. If the Sox can find an actual MLB-caliber reserve outfielder, he can go to Pawtucket and replace, well, anyone. But Brentz should really be the first one gone anyway. Not Castillo...
  15. Is he really? The outfielders in Pawtucket are Castillo, Gorkys Hernandez, Bryce Brentz, and Cole Sturgeon (and maybe Sam Travis). It’s not like they have some overcrowding issue there that’s blocking everyone below. Which one isn’t expendable?
  16. When did that happen when teams signed talented players and stashed them in the minors?
  17. He gets the same money whether he is playing in MLB, playing in AAA, or playing Nintendo RBI Baseball at home...
  18. So maybe we’re in agreement. Dombrowski doesn’t like him because his contract it too expensive for a fourth outfielder...
  19. It’s ok. He was genuflecting as he typed it...
  20. No. Reportedly Dombrowski left Castillo’s showcase, citing him as a “fourth outfielder.” This was before anyone signed him...
  21. As Benjamin Franklin famously said “There are 3 certainties in life. Death, taxes, and Troy Tulowitzki sustaining injuries that keep him off the field.”
  22. As I’ve been saying, he’s the best outfielder in the organization after Betts, Bradley, Benintendi, and Martinez...
  23. Probably. But reportedly Dombrowski is not a fan and will likely just let him walk...
  24. It’s a safe bet he gets non-tendered...
