    A trade of Stroman and Giles for Casas, Duran, Dalbec and Hernandez gives each side exactly 37.50 going each way, is a package more in line with what Toronto would likely want, and bankrupts the Sox farm in a way DD prefers to operate...

    One thing no simulator can account for is how much Team A wants the player from Team B. I don’t doubt the equality. I do doubt Toronto’s desire to make that deal. But in my own little fantasy world, DD made it yesterday....

    I believe he said Benintendi or Chavis. Sending Benintendi instead flips the trade strongly in favor of Toronto...

    Yes. The extra years of control are a big factor. Stroman has a trade value of 26.8. Giles of 10.7 Chavis has 12.1. Hernandez has 5.1. Shawaryn has 0.9. So it’s 37.5 to Boston but only 18.10 to Toronto. Even adding Jarren Duran (8.8) doesn’t even it up...

    Pedroia’s value is at -30 on that website. That’s pretty untradable except for other negative value salary dumps. That site set Benintendi’s value at 58. I didn’t set it that high. I opted for a neutral third party evaluation. Funny thing about that site. I checked on Encarnacion vs. Then. Both players came in with a value of 0.9...

    If trading Benintendi opens the door to more playing time for Holt (who is still in the 2b picture), Pearce, Lin, or Nunez, that’s a reason NOT to do it. And the notion of putting Martinez in the OF regularly when he isn’t 100% isn’t convincing me otherwise either. I actually could see Chavis heading out there if/when Moreland returns for us annual second half fade. But that might be their best internal option...
