  1. Yes, Captain Correction
  2. The Sox might have the worst farm in the majors, but that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of major leaguers, even at the upper levels. It means they probably don’t have as many as other teams or don’t have any high impact players or both. It is possible in the next 12 months, any of Dalbec, Chatham, Houck, Hart, Mata, and/or Duran all make MLB debuts. And others like Lakins, Poyner, Shawaryn, and Kelley return to the majors. But what level of player will they be? But only 5 of the top 10 on Soxprospects.com are below AA...
  3. To be fair, I’ve been piling on DD since he was hired, although pausing briefly to give some credit last October. That’s the thing with DD; he absolutely HAS to get the title, because his methods ensure hard times to follow, and the title makes them somewhat easier to take...
  4. Dalbec is really the Sox best completely expendable trade chip. If they have to fill a need cheaply - and they will, probably more than one - this guy is obviously on his way elsewhere. I see South Beach in his future, where they like minimum wage baseball players and the hot corner is no longer contaminated with the skeletal remains of Martin Prado. Sox get Jose Urena to replace Porcello...
  5. That’s why you reset after 2020, before Mookie becomes a free agent and makes that kind of cash...
  6. I’m predicting his next deal is similar to Molan Arenado’s deal - neighborhood of 8 years / $260mill...
  7. On what day can my 12yo daughter’s softball team beat the Yankees?
  8. But has he implied it?
  9. It’s fair. He’s never expressed much in the way of fandom for me either...
  10. It is, and it’s done to fool the umpire. But it’s still on the umpire to get it right...
  11. I was never a fan...
  12. At the very least, be prepared for a few 4 1/2 hour games with an average of about 9 pitching changes each...
  13. In the event of any injuries, it becomes possible. Unless we have the next Jeff McNeil down in Pawtucket...
  14. I believe you are referring to Tommy Pham, who does have a good power/speed combo like Mookie. But he is also 4 1/2 years older than Betts...
  15. I think between Marco Hernandez and Tzu-Wei Lin, the Sox do have the utility infielder role covered. They also have defensive whiz kid Jeremy Rivera to cover 2b/3b/SS if need be. It would be nice to get an actual fourth OF, but the best internal candidates are probably Cole Sturgeon and Tate Matheny. Notice how I did not say "Gorkys". Bottom line: The Sox can probably build their bench internally for little to no money. This might be very important financially, but can have an obvious and potentially severe drawback...
  16. The option for next season as the intriguing part...
  17. It just shows how unprepared DD is. He didn’t even have a expensive reliever to release so he could clear money for a weak side platoon for JBJ...
  18. I could see non-tendering him because it might be possible to replace him with minor league arms like like Tanner Houck or Travis Lakins for less money. I could see tendering him because he will likely be about $2mill or so and free agent relievers will cost more.
  19. Even if you had the numbers, it’s probably a small and irrelevant sample size against minor league southpaws over one season. Gorkys has had significant MLB experience. And in that experience, he had limited success against MLB LHP to the tune of a .615 OPS. Of course, this is also a limited sample size of 420 PA spread out over 8 years. But the fact that the 31yo Hernandez was kept off the field vs LHP so much in the past 8 seasons also says something...
  20. You think Hembree is tendered a contract? Tough call for me. There are two clear sides that have a good argument...
  21. You’re kidding, right? Maybe because not everybody is hitting the ball equally hard? Maybe because not every player has equal line drive rates? Maybe because a juiced ball can increase the likelihood of barrel contact but can’t force the hitter to make it?
  22. No but you’re close. They’re clearly underinflating the baseballs. We just need to know how. And why. And who “they” are...
  23. Right. Juiced balls only lead to home runs. Not harder hit lines drives and absolutely no increased exit velocity. Just home runs!!
  24. Still clinging to the one scouting ranking that has Deivi Garcia in the top 25? Everyone else has him outside of the top 60, which makes him A LOT closer to Casas than the names you seem to think he belongs with...
  25. But how does that compare to other farms? Bear in mind, the professional organizations saying the Sox have the worst farm aren't saying "No Major Leaguers!! Ever!!" They're saying "29 other teams have a really good chance at having more and/or better major league talent in their farm systems than Boston does."
