  1. Value as a trade commodity is directly related to value as a baseball player, especially for minor leaguers...
  2. “Good” and “bad” are matters of opinion. Which is why Bob Marley and his 3 little birds didn’t sing that lyric...
  3. When Matt Young can take the loss in a no-hitter - and not be the only pitcher ever to do so - it might be an indication that the stat isn’t solely indicative of the pitcher himself. When Harvey Haddix can put forth the single most dominant pitching performance in a century and a half of MLB games and still take the loss, it might be an indication that the stat isn’t solely indicative of the pitcher himself. Wins are a team stat. You don’t win or lose as a pitcher; you win or lose as a team...
  4. The game is changing. It always has before. It’s OK. In the words of the immortal philosopher Bob Marley “Every little thing is gonna be all right.”
  5. The Sox most tradable pieces are Dalbec and Duran. Hernandez and Mata also have some value. Travis and Lin are worthless as trade commodities...
  6. Tend to agree. While someone like Lynn makes sense for Boston because of his control beyond 2020, the Sox might forego starters and focus on relievers. Unless the goal is to push Cashner to the pen, which I doubt...
  7. Casas, Dalbec and Benintendi actually is a really good offer for Syndergaard. The sticking point might be the lack of pitching...
  8. It’s really not that great of an offer. The best player in it is a positionless infielder and the Jays have Guerrero, Bichette, and Biggio taking 3 of those spots. And they still have Gurriel looking for a place to play...
  9. Wins are meaningful as a team stat, but not a pitcher stat. More often than not, the wins stat for pitchers is an indication of the talent of a pitcher’s teammates, not of the pitcher...
  10. Well, the harm is it leaves the Sox weaker at 1b...
  11. Silly question. But as Chavis and Pearce are both injured, if the Sox were to trade Moreland, who would play first!? Brock Holt? Maybe the Sox need Moreland more than anyone else does right now...
  12. Tampa RHP Blake Snell is undergoing arthroscopic surgery and Texas OF Joey Gallo is going to undergo hamate bone surgery. Both are expected to miss 4-6 weeks. I think Texas is officially in “Sell Mode” now. Tampa can become much more aggressive buyers and has the prospects to do so, but I’m not as sure of their fate since they typically like to avoid bigger contracts and giving away any prospects of value. They may just try to win with their kids and a short term marginal pickup. I’d be surprised if they went into sell mode at this point, even as their injuries pile up...
  13. So he’s both not good enough yet also too good? Actually I plugged that trade into baseballtradevalues.com and it was accepted. I think Lynn’s age and history have him as a “sell high” candidate...
  14. As much as I have my doubts that it’s the smart move, I think the Sox will be buyers. I think they will acquire Lance Lynn for Bobby Dalbec...
  15. He might be an upgrade over Walker/Lamb. But he isn’t worth much in a trade. Last year the Sox got Steve Pearce for minor league infielder Santiago Espinal. That’s about Moreland’s value...
  16. Unless they come back and suck
  17. Heights and weights for athletes are rarely listed consistently anywhere. I’ve seen Lincecum, for example, listed at 5’9, 5’10 and now at 5’11. Not sure what his true height is, but he’s probably not exactly any of those heights. Bottom line - these guys are all small...
  18. Tim Lincecum, Johnny Cueto, Tom Gordon, Jason Frasor, and Teddy Higuera were all power pitchers about that height.
  19. So yesterday Paul DeJong Hot 3 home runs, one day after Robinson Cano accomplished the feat, making him the - well, I’ve lost count how many have hit 3 home runs in a game this year. I totally expect someone to hit 4. 18 players have hit 4 in a game to date in MLB history, most recently in 2017 by JD Martinez. Number 19 has to happen this year. Right? And does this mean at some point this year, someone will become the first player to hit FIVE home runs in a game? Who will it be? And how many will he hit off Rick Porcello?
  20. Oh I get protecting your anonymity. So if you win, answer EVERY QUESTION with the dung beetle line and NOTHING ELSE. If they ask how you feel, you’re “all over it like a dung beetle on buffalo poop.” When they ask how it will change your life, you’re “all over it like a dung beetle on buffalo poop.” It’ll be like a Marshawn Lynch press conference, but more awesome. It’ll go viral. We’ll see it. And THEN I will take your predictions seriously.
  21. Go for it. And when they interview you on TV about winning, somehow casually work in the phrase “I was all over it like a dung beetle on buffalo poop.” Just so we all know it was you. And make it sound like you’re serious...
  22. I’m glad you said that for two reasons. 1. I don’t have faith in DD to make any upgrades. 2. Your prediction track record is, to be kind, f***ing awful...
  23. Much like Blue Moon Beer, Charlie Blackmon is a product of Coors...
  24. Well, where’s that quote from? At the very least, itseems like they called him up before he was ready - after 1 rehab inning. After his first outing, don’t you think they should take a little time giving him softer landing spots? Or do you think they should ignore that outing and just drop him into high leverage innings solely because they said they would?
