  1. The Padres might be starting to see a roster crunch with their 40 man and might soon want to add other elite prospects, possibly Gore and Urias. Consolidating two 40 man players into one highly ranked non-40 man prospect gives them some flexibility.
  2. Sox actually needs a SP. Getting a reliever is just getting another arm to work to death due to the inefficiencies of this rotation...
  3. If we avoid the 25 man, the Sox couldn’t trade for Syndergaard if they put a shotgun barrel down BVW’s throat...
  4. The Sox could use Dominic Smith, but who do the Sox have the Mets could use in return? I suppose a Dalbec/Smith deal is possible this off-season...
  5. To be fair, I’ve been calling him a do-nothing goofball GM for a long time now. Since before spring training. If he doesn’t add anyone tomorrow, if I don’t call him one again, I’ll be inconsistent.
  6. So tomorrow is it. Flurry of last minute league wide excitement? Or like the off-season, does it put the “dead” in “deadline”?
  7. You wouldn’t trade ERod just for Thor?
  8. Next year might be a different matter, as Hernandez still works for league minimum...
  9. I think you’re massively undervaluing Diaz based on this year. Bear in mind he hasn’t even reached arbitration yet. 3+ years of Diaz plus 5+ years of Smith for 1+ years of Bradley and a 24yo .230 AA hitter and a 22yo unranked AA pitcher just doesn’t work. The Sox aren’t getting Diaz. Even the Mets’ interest in Benintendi has been discredited...
  10. You think that’s a bad deal for Boston?
  11. Again, I think that gets BVW fired. I don’t think the Sox have the assets to get Thor alone, never mind including Diaz and Nikon, both of whom also have significant value themselves due to their years of control remaining...
  12. BVW has made some pretty unpredictable trades in his brief tenure as Mets GM, but that would be his worst. Bear in mind only 7 months ago he took on Robinson Cano’s contract (along with giving up two Top 100 prospects) to get Diaz. He can’t sell low on him this quick and expect to keep his job...
  13. They might retain Holt, who has expressed strong desire to stay. But both Lin and Hernandez will be out of options, so they either get a spot or get lost...
  14. No, but that is a common misconception. The popularity of the mp3 pushed Columbia House out of the music distribution industry and into the next logical step of murder for hire. Happens all the time. K-Tel did it too...
  15. This is true. But I think they get Boyd or Ray...
  16. Next season, I think Hernandez and Lin take the roster spots occupied by Holt and Nunez...
  17. Dalbec is the better fielder, but with Devers taking 3b, I keep Chavis. 1b is just not as hard to defend as 3b. I’ve taken the stance most of the season that I am surprised Dalbec is still with this organization...
  18. Love JBJ but I send him to Queens for Diaz. That said, it can’t be a 1 for 1 deal...
  19. Well yeah. That goes without saying. Also Winona Ryder and the Columbia House Company. (Get your first eight hitmen for a penny!! Ah but you have to buy lots more later!)
  20. If that’s true, then Cashman dropped the ball. Andujar was certainly a nice source of RHH power, but to pass on a potential TOR starter with multiple years of control in order to hold on to a defensively limited 1b/DH type strikes me as a bad non-move. The Yankees could have replaced Andujar with the money spent on Happ much more efficiently than the struggle they will have trying to replace what Cole would have brought. And they did, with LeMahieu. But hey, hindsight is 20/20...
  21. So you think it was a big conspiracy with ties all the way up to and including Keith Richards and the Hostess Corporation? Big Twinkie is in on it?
  22. Per Rotoworld, Speier and Ken Rosenthal are reporting the Sox weak farm likely has them out on Diaz, Shane Greene and Rasiel Iglesias. Alex Colome was not mentioned, but it’s also possible they’re out on him as well. So the pen upgrade will be a lesser pitcher. Buck Farmer, anyone?
  23. Wasn’t it a case of mistaken identity? To me the moral of the story is “when pricing hitmen, don’t suddenly get cheap.” Although I’m not sure I can use this lesson in my daily life...
  24. I see the “Marco Hernandez Fan Club” has a new leader. You’re out, moon!
