    A while back, I was on LinkedIn, and Aubrey Huff’s name popped up as a potential connection. No idea why. So I sent it out, figuring “Oh, what the heck.” And forgot about it. Several months later, he accepted it. I went to his profile and he only had like 35 connections, and about half of them were former Major Leaguers including Dustan Mohr, Nate Shietholtz and Greg Blosser. I was impressed. “Aubrey Huff personally accepted my invite!!” I realized he was using LinkedIn to plug his new blog “Huff Off the Cuff.” I read a few entries.     Not even that they just cheated. It’s that they “cheated on a way I don’t approve of.” Other known cheaters like Gaylord Perry and Phil Niekro were enshrined because they had the numbers, which was the only criteria. Many of the PED-users actually didn’t even cheat, since there were no rules or insufficient rules at the time...

    He was an overall letdown. Kimbrel has his highest career fWAR in Boston, too. He sandwiched it in between his two career worst fWAR values (at the time). Was he a letdown? Gonzalez played less time in Boston, but his career was nearly equally imbalanced. He followed up his career high fWAR in Boston with a career low OPS+ the following season...

    With the unfair advantage of complete 100% hindsight, which was the better set of (non-)moves? Get Adrian Gonzalez and draft Jackie Bradley? Or re-sign Adrian Beltre and keep Anthony Rizzo?

    Lackey was DESPISED by fans the first two seasons. And for good reason - he was horrible. He was so bad, I actually breathed a sigh of relief when it was announced he would miss a year for Tommy John surgery. He came back and was very good. But he certainly proved a lot about timing. His contract was the same number of years (5) as JD Drew’s and both had 2 good seasons in Boston. But Lackey left loved and Drew left hated by many fans.

    I remember looking at Adrian Beltre’s actual numbers IN Boston. HRs: 28. Doubles: 49. Left Fielders Sidelined with Broken Ribs: 2. OPS: .919

    I cut him a bit of slack for being a surprisingly good right fielder once you factor in that his foot speed was matched by a glacier. But he was a letdown. And really not sure why the Sox went after him besides the “Big Name Star Power”. The Sox had an excellent 1b in Youkilis and an excellent 3b in Beltre. They should have paid Adrian B. and gone with the status quo...

    Exactly. Myers would have been the new Mike Lansing contract we suffered through as he played sporadically. But the arm or two the Sox also got had the potential to make it worthwhile. Let them pay Myers...

    I think a big factor is all these high school kids repeatedly throwing 90+ mph at ages 16 and 17. You don’t need to throw that hard to get high school hitters out. But high radar gun readings and lots of them lead directly to scholarships and signing bonuses...
