  1. Ah, Brasier. I remember when you were my biggest gripe on this pitching staff. Memories...
  2. I’m in April Mode. That means Pillar in, Verdugo out, Moreland still alive. And Dalbec in Rhode Island...
  3. Not really worried about the 4 or 5 off days Devers gets. The Sox have plenty of infielders. Makes no sense to give up a year of development and control so Dalbec can bat maybe 150 times
  4. Not sure about keeping Dalbec as a weak side platoon. He might be better off playing every day in AAA for now. Maybe Lucroy can be the RHH 1b option...
  5. He was so supposed to do MLB-ready when he was drafted. He’s been nothing but a disappointment on that front, and it is absolutely worthwhile to question whether or not he is ONE YEAR AWAY, which is what I was responding to. And, actually, it’s ok to badmouth a prospect’s baseball ability. Not like I’m picking on a speech impediment here...
  6. Retirement. Gil Meche and Ryan Dempster both did it...
  7. Which is not what he said
  8. Feltman? Shouldn’t the Sox wait until he learns how to get minor leaguer hitters out first?
  9. Mike Scioscia would be spinning in his grave if he was actually dead....
  10. Pitching, pitching, pitching. The Sox were one of the best offenses in MLB last year and might have been able to afford to take a hit. Their pitching was middle-of-the-pack and dealing Price pushed them further back...
  11. Well we could have kept Betts and watched Sale get injured. Would this team really be better off? Would they be a contender then?
  12. Exactly. It might be routine, but it’s still surgery. I’ve seen plenty of people take time off from work because family members are having routine surgeries. And very few of these family members are trying to recapture a 98mph fastball...
  13. I really like the idea of Barnes as an opener for the exact reasons you say. I was hoping the Sox kept Graterol and paired him with Hernandez to be their high leverage relievers late in games....
  14. The more relievers you can trust in high leverage situations, the better, obviously. I just don’t see the point of saving one of the best arms in the bullpen for the ninth with a 3 run lead and the 7-8-9 hitters coming up...
  15. Well the notion that the closer role is overrated is because the closer is typically the best reliever on the team and too often used solely as a ninth inning specialist, and in most games, the most critical late outs come in earlier innings...
  16. But at some point, someone has to log actual innings. If Weber is only expected to go 3-4 IP per start, the bullpen will be burnt out by July. Especially if another opener has to sub for Sale. They’re going to have to keep Eovaldi, Rodriguez and Perez on a very strict 180 pitch count limit...
  17. I’m taking about in his regular season career...
  18. Stupid rule. And it was done because of the way managers abused other stupid rules...
  19. Isn’t Weber supposed to be an opener? Or is Weber expected to log actual IP? We’re talking about a pitcher whose gone over 5 IP exactly one time and hasn’t gone over 4 IP in multiple games since 2015...
  20. But who’s fourth?
  21. For reasons you pointed out, those rumors make no sense. Like the options were. 1. Fire Dombrowski 2. Allow Dombrowski to spend $340 mill on contract extensions. One would think if there was even an inkling of DD getting the can, a middle ground between those two might have happened. Unless DD really tried to spend closer to $6-800 mill, and this was the middle ground...
  22. And that has nothing to do with Verlander’s miraculous turnaround once he and several other pitchers got to Houston. Watch for Greinke to have a Cy Young caliber season this year....
  23. And did so on the advice of the guy he hired to handle all the baseball matters. I don’t know how involved Henry is in day-to-day stuff, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the answer was “not at all” and he was relying on his GM to only make smart moves that were beneficial short and long term. I think Sale irritates me more with all of this. He’s whining about his injuries keeping him from living up to a contract that he very likely only signed in the first place because he was injured....
  24. Alternate answer: a baby will grow up eventually;)
  25. Actually if you paid attention, you might have seen a glimpse why...
