  1. Makes the Betts trade look even better. Dodgers get Betts for one partial season. Sox season sits on hold while Verdugo recovers...
  2. Also, quick draw ejections. Will the robot ump eject players and Managers even faster?
  3. Or 45.59, depending on whether her sine is calculated using degrees or radians...
  4. It’s impressed me. A home plate umpire’s job involves deciding if a 100mph baseball touches any part of an invisible box of varying size. And with very little time and no help. When I see borderline K-Zone pitches called by the umpire and he agrees one way or the other, I’m very impressed...
  5. Honestly, I get that doctors like Andrews and ElAttrache are not going to help the COVID-19 crisis. They’re specialists. My dentist isn’t helping either. But yes, the whole “essential to our livelihood” angle smacks of someone saying something he himself doesn’t believe...
  6. You and Carlos Gonzalez, who said of the situation “If Chris Sale wants to pitch shirtless, we play without shirts.”
  7. Welcome back, DG. But we’re still waiting on actual baseball
  8. I actually like Lucroy as a RHH option for 1b. But it will be tough to get him rostered if Verdugo is healthy and they like Arauz but can’t work anything out...
  9. I’d take Cashner in the bullpen yesterday. Demote Brasier...
  10. Seeing Johnson was a real downer for me. But unless McHugh is ready, he’s certainly a strong possibility. Still wouldn’t mind seeing Bloom roll the dice on Buchholz or Cashner. Or even Matt Harvey. These injury-prone guys become less of a liability in a shortened season...
  11. Also worth noting, with the delayed start to the season, Verdugo might be ready to go. If so, who is off the roster? If the Sox can make a deal with Houston to keep Arauz, problem solved. But if not, DFA Lin? Or do they send Arauz back? Or who contracts Fenway Fever and hits the IL?
  12. He was the only one I noticed. I had to look up Taylor and Walden. But I just knew no way in Hell was Chris Mazza making the roster without a glut of injuries involved...
  13. “I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.”
  14. Darwinzon Hernandez, Josh Taylor, Marcus Walden
  15. I actually think he was scheduled to start. He had a good amount of support from players around MLB. The White Sox had other issues with Sale, starting with his open criticism of Kenny Williams over the handling of the issue with Adam LaRoche’s son. Given that the two biggest critics of that ordeal were Sale and Adam Eaton, and that both were dealt quickly the following off-season, that might have been the bigger deal...
  16. And that may be where we are...
  17. Maybe they’re focusing on the pandemic cheating throughout MLB?
  18. Absolutely true. But I can’t overlook the possibility that he is an insufferable ******* and won’t donate his stash. But in all likelihood, he doesn’t have a stash and just uses operating rooms and supplies in the hospitals where he is in staff anyway...
  19. I bet people will still disagree with robot umps just as much as they disagree with human umps...
  20. Even though it’s more heavily influenced by the pitcher?
  21. Could be. I’ve just never heard of him having to re-schedule a Tommy John surgery because another patient needed a kidney transplant and the OR got co-opted. But then I’ve never been able to draft Andrews in my Surgeons Fantasy League. I keep getting stuck with ones like Vivek Murthy, and you just cannot dominate with that draft pick...
  22. But does a doctor to the rich and famous like Dr. Andrews have his own private surgical setup that’s not in a hospital? I have no idea. I never see any doctor anyone has ever heard of...
  23. Most? What’s with this country and our half-ass partial bans?
  24. No Curtis Godwin?
  25. What’s fun is that 34yo Matt Ryan is second youngest starting QB in that division. He’s actually closer in age to the youngest than he is to the oldest...
