  1. We don't want him mucking up our tank season with the occasional win?
  2. Why? If we didn't deal Mike Stanley to the Yankees in 1997, we might never have gotten Pedro Martinez...
  3. In looking at baseballtradevalues.com, the top prospect a deal of Moreland to the Yankees might get you is maybe Albert Abreu, who Fangraphs has as their #13. If that is the case, do you deal Moreland for Abreu? I thik their valuation of Moreland might be rated low at $0.9mill surplus. He already has 1.1 fWAR this year. That's actually more than he was worth in the 4 previous full seasons, so it is clearly a career year for him. But if he projects as a even a 1+ fWAR player next year as well, then his surplus value should be closer to $5-6mill range. This would mean a fair trade would be something like Miguel Andujar (if the Sox wanted him), or one of their better pitching prospects like Miguel Yajure, Alexander Vizcaino, or maybe Luiis Gil. (Again, using baseballtradevalues.com valuations.) So would you deal Moreland for any of them? Acquiring Andujar would make either JD expendable, or make Chavis and/or Dalbec expendable...
  4. So.. you wouldn't trade Moreland to NY...
  5. He also said water is wet...
  6. Our present is weak. If the Sox can strengthen their future and simultaneously weaken the future of the Yankees (even just a bit), is it worth it?
  7. Still time...
  8. I saw one guy say the Yankees need to go after Trevor Bauer so they can see “if he fits in” with the club. I’ll save Cashman the prospects. He doesn’t. Reportedly Gerrit Cole and Bauer hate each other.
  9. Well, unless they have one year left and won’t extend...
  10. Why? Not getting enough punishment watching the rest of the staff?
  11. Simulator - yes. AJ Preller - probably not
  12. Trading players because they’re struggling is how you build a failing franchise...
  13. In what could be an interesting move, the Padres could actually take back JD Martinez in a swap for Myers and actually save money. Myyers is having a much better season, but that can change rapidly...
  14. The Padres are also a rather small market team that did desperately want to unload his contract. He is having a good year, but he is tied for 4th on the Padres in fWAR with Jake Croneneworth and Zack Davies. They are getting a lot of production from some good players. They might hold Myers, but I do think they will take an opportunity to unload this deal if one presents itself...
  15. His $8.9mill fWAR might not cover the $46mill he has left on his contract after this season. There is a reason baseballtradevalues has him vaued at -$18.5mill. The Padres probably gladly move Myers, taking advantage of a situation where another team might want him. Or, the Padres could look at it another way, and decide the 28 games this season are the reality, and the outliers are the three previous seasons...
  16. Feel free to make that domain.
  17. Hey that site only tells you if the trade values are equal, not whether or not both teams actually want the players involved...
  18. Think the very flawed Chavis is enough of an enticement? With Tatis, Machado, Cronenworth, France, Mateo, and Hosmer, infield might not be their biggest weakness...

  20. Legitimate rumor (if such a thing exists) or just your educated guess?
  21. Shaw also didn't bolster his numbers by being played primarily into his strengths, like Chavis has. That, and the reasons you mentioned, are why Shaw can be a starter, but Chavis is a role player...
  22. The only players that could make a decent dent would be Bogaerts, Martinez, and Eovaldi. Unless the offer is very significant, I'd be surprised if any of them were dealt for a couple reasons. I don't think the Sox are going to do any sort of prolonged rebuild. They have never done that under Henry. He doesn't mind spending on players to win. He just minds spending on penalties...
  23. MLB's blackout rules are archaic. They divided up the entire country into regions "controlled" by each team and everyone in that region is subject to blackouts. So people in El Paso cannot watch Ranger games because MLB wants to encourage attendance. Because those El Pasans need to make that 10 hour drive! Not sure why MLB has been so insistent on preventing people from watching it's product....
  24. They did that already. Betts. Price...
  25. Yes, 3 more times for every 1,000 plate appearances!! Your sarcasm is noted lol...
