  1. Apparently that’s their new moniker. It’s harmless, I will say the say that. I would have preferred something more Baseball oriented, but not as mundane as the Cleveland Baseball Team. But most of those names are probably boring. Like the Cleveland Bats? Yawn. Cleveland Nine? Eh. Cleveland Sluggers? Not making my nipples perk up. My personal choice based on region and marketing ease would have been the Cleveland Rocks. Sure I’d get sick of the song eventually, but it could be fun for a while. For a while there was a minor League hockey team called the Lake Erie Monsters (since renamed the Cleveland Monsters.) Now THAT is a name that needs to come back. Lake Erie Monsters!! Not Cleveland Monsters. Get the lake name in there like it always should have been…
  2. The needs are clearly 1b, RP and maybe a SP. Some blogs say leadoff hitter, but I’d be surprised. The bigger question to me is - who do the Sox have to give up? Who do you suppose is available?
  3. As a defensive RF, JD did some stuff that amazed me. Like how he never broke stride when cleanly fielding ground balls in the outfield. Veteran starting outfielder routinely work on fielding the ball while running and timing everything so the proper foot is forward when they pick up the grounder. JD just did it…
  4. Agreed. Perez isn’t a long term solution (and his contracts indicate no one thinks he is). But if he’s your weak link in the rotation, things are not as bad as some might fear. Depth over quality is a bigger factor for this team, even with Sale coming back at some point…
  5. But the Sox could go get some Terrance Gore type for pinch running and not stifle Duran with intermittent playing time…
  6. Not counting 2020, he has 3 seasons below 2.0 fWAR out of 11 seasons, and in one of those seasons he was 2 years removed from high school. He’s had a good career. Just because he isn’t Chris Sale or Justin Verlander doesn’t change that…
  7. How much of that was covering for injuries and other struggling players? He took some PA from Renfroe early on, for example, but that was back when Renfroe was not exactly a guy we wanted to see hit every day. He is doing what a bench player is supposed to do. He’s far from a problem…
  8. I don’t think Marwin Gonzalez is much danger
  9. And just a roster filler signed to a minor league deal
  10. That’s what plebes do…
  11. Also worth noting, both Cannon and Castellanos would be more famous with the first name “Nick”…
  12. It could only be for Berrios…
  13. Minor leaguers get pulled from the starting lineup every day. But in July, this suddenly becomes big news.. One tip - if it’s Marcus Wilson being pulled, don’t get too worked up. Any trade involving him is not likely to be a blockbuster…
  14. The problem with acting now is it takes turn teams to trade. Tans in selling mode often like to wait out best offers. So if a team wants to act early, they often have to overpay…
  15. Greinke? Verlander?
  16. I only called for his demotion, not DFA. But if he didn’t have options, then, yes I would have called for his DFA in April…
  17. He’s high on their prospect list but he isn’t so much of a prospect that they would completely forego everyone else who played the position. The Tigers do understand that prospects bust, and the ONLY protection against that is more prospects. You’re right he’s 22, but he turns 23 in like 7 weeks…
  18. Who? Catching is actually a massive void in their system. Unless you were referring to Dillon Dingler, the only catcher BA had in their top 30 prospects as of May. However, the 23yo former Ohio State Buckeye is struggling in AA and is considered to be at least 2 years away. Or were you referring to 2021 #1 overall draft pick Henry Davis? Probably worth noting 1) he hasn’t signed yet and 2) he was drafted by the Pirates, not the Tigers.
  19. If I was an MLB GM (please!!!), I’d take Groome in a trade over Ward right now. And I am far from a Groome fan…
  20. Ward is coming off TJ and has never pitched above A ball. It’s very unlikely anyone picks him. We focus on Ward because he looks like a good pitching talent. But every organization has some A ball pitcher equivalent to Ward. He hasn’t done anything so special yet to deserve being picked in the rule 5 draft…
  21. Garrett Cooper and Jon Gray.
  22. The Marlins haven’t even been around 50 years and they’ve developed and traded away Miguel Cabrera Josh Beckett Giancarlo Stanton Christian Yelich I think a lot of teams could have equally impressive lists over a 50 year stretch (You also left out Schilling.)
  23. When you openly voice that the only way to win is by spending, it feels a tad hypercritical to hold against those not allowed to spend for the lack of winning…
  24. Potts alone can get that…
  25. With only 2 runs scored!! He’s dragging everyone down!!
