  1. 6 Sox hitters. 2 hits and 3 atem balls.
  2. So you tell us ad nauseum. So why are you watching?
  3. Well, it was a guess on my part; too lazy to actually check.
  4. Cooper at least had a moderately successful first 7 years in the majors. Not great, but not awful. He was even an all-star 2 years ago (I’ll concede he was probably Miami's mandatory player) Except for 1/2 a year, Dalbec is a never was.
  5. 8th inning and I still don’t know what this ump’s strike zone is. Very inconsistent. Westbrook has two obvious balls called strikes, including strike 3. Cooper has two strikes called balls.
  6. You also eventually get to one guy who doesn’t have it on a given day. The more guys you use, the more likely it will happen.
  7. He’s been Houdini several times this year. Eventually that fails.
  8. Hey, he hit the ball and got the run in. How many times this year have we seen K, K and then a lazy fly ball in that situation?
  9. When you play a team can matter a lot. I said in Thursday’s game thread this series scares me. A team that has lost as many in a row as the Pale Hose had can be dangerous when breaks start to go their way, and sooner or later they will. They benefited today from some fortuitous ball-strike calls both on the mound and at the plate; they took advantage of those breaks.
  10. Betts missed 14 games at the end of May/early June in 2018; obviously he was on the DL for those 2 weeks. He also had 6 or 7 games off during the last couple weeks of the season after the Sox had pretty much clinched. Xander pretty much followed the same pattern, except his DL stint was in late April (he missed 15 games there). Leon caught in 87 games, Vazquez 75, Swihart 28 and the immortal Dan Butler in 2.
  11. In his last 2 starts prior to tonight, Crochet allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 12 innings and struck out 19. That got him a record of 0-1 and a no decision.
  12. Who cares, it's professional pumpkin chucking.
  13. Larry Jones, formerly of the Braves, says right after they put your plaque up in Cooperstown.
  14. Are you talking about the incident with the first base coach? Or was it a new episode?
  15. This series scares me a bit. A team that has lost 12 in a row is due for some different luck.
  16. Still have the question why not Martin? Isn’t standard procedure in these games use your closer in the 9th, your next best available reliever in the 10th, etc?
  17. Yep, but should have been out of the inning allowing only 1 run at most (and probably none); New York screwed the pooch on the review.
  18. Well, the first hit wasn’t exactly roped. It wasn’t even a hit. But the last two hitters have nailed the ball. Edit - 3 hitters Edit - 4 hitters New York costs the Sox at least 2 runs with that bad review call.
  19. Booser’s done the job most of the time, but is Martin hurt? Not like he’s pitched a lot lately.
  20. I repeat my statement about just throwing anyone at first base.
  21. Seems to happen when he pitches out of the stretch.
