Yep, but I was told by our newest know-it-all that what the midget did 20 years ago makes no difference. The kid is struggling, probably for the first time in his life. He’ll either adjust and get through it or he won’t. He deserves more than a bad month to do so..

It makes sense here; there’s no save to be had. if makes less sense on the road. Bug I remember a winner take all extra innings playoff game involving the Orioles several years ago where the O’s manager kept his all-star closer in the pen waiting for a save opportunity that never came.

Could be, but hopefully they’ll leave him in the 8-9 hole, leave him at 2nd base and let him relax. Batting him 4th was beyond stupid.

HOF college basketball coach Al McGuire used to say the best thing about a freshman is he becomes a sophomore. Most rookies go through struggles. I think we can give the kid a bad month or 2. He’ll either adjust or he won’t, but expecting him to not have growing pains is stupid.

Organizational approach is launch angle. Anyone else see the story from spring training where an unnamed young hitter asked Jim Rice for some advice; Rice did his patented hit line drives, go the other way if you have to. You know, the complicated stuff that got him a plaque in Cooperstown. Some computer nerd rushed over and told him not to talk to the hitters because it might contradict what the data was telling the organization what their hitters to do. Rice basically told him to go look at his computer monitor but I guess he isn’t welcome any more, I’ve heard similar stories from other ex-players in other organizations.

Tornado passed a couple miles south of us; I see I missed the Sox scoring 1 run but little else. Bello lasts 6 innings; who had that number on their bingo card?

Who was that guy for the Mets years ago who lost something like 25 straight decisions (might have even been a couple more than that). You have to be at least halfway decent for any team to keep sending a pitcher out there with that track record. Edit - it was a guy named Anthony Young in 1992 and 1993. His ERA over those two years was about 4, which won’t get you all-star status but shouldn’t get you 27 straight losses either. In Senzatela’s case, his ERA is north of 7, so there is some correlation. -
The only one of these 4 2/3 removals that made any sense to me was Giolito’s on Friday; the batter was Matt Olson, who careerwise has hit about .700 against Lucas with 4 homers and a ton of RBIs. I know, SSS, but at least that one had some data to back it up.
