    Of course the option was an overwhelmingly huge part of the decision. We (fans) have absolutely no idea what else if anything contributed to said decision and to what extent "else" was or was not a factor. It is also a fact that fans know nothing of what really goes on in a clubhouse (which is what I was trying to say); those who think they do are delusional.

    They do but he’s better off pitching every 5th day in Pawtucket than being the 6th or 7th guy out of the pen in Boston.

    He’s still adjusting from being a starter. I doubt he was fully warmed up since they started the 8th with a 2 run lead. If he’s going to pitch out of the pen, he’s got to figure out how to get warm quicker.

    He went on his rehab assignment April 30. Pitchers get 30 days max, so I would think he either has to be activated or put back on the DL today or maybe tomorrow. EDIT - He was taken off his rehab assignment on Tuesday without being taken off the DL; he can resume minor league rehab on the 8th

    He doesn’t have good instincts. Betts has them; Beni and JBJ not so much. Two of the best runners in recent years were Lowell and Napoli. No speed but they knew when to go and when not to. Ortiz was pretty good as well, especially until what little speed he had left him.

    JBJ has some speed but he is not a good base runner. Having said that, if Beni went on his own, he may not have known. That’s a play you have to anticipate; the coach can’t help you there.

    Looks like Gaviglio is pounding the outside corner; got to take him up the middle and the other way. He’s gotten them to roll over on 5 ground ball outs.

    Truth is we (the fans) have absolutely no idea what happens in the clubhouse. Cora et.al. saw something or some things that raised some concerns. We’ll have to trust their insider judgement on what is/was best for the team.

    Interesting, but how would he know? Francona’s last season was 2011 and the Sox didn’t sign Pablo and Ganley until after the 2014 season (by which time Franconia was managing the Guardians).

    Hamley is guaranteed $22M for the year; per the CBA, he cannot get 1 penny more. The Red Sox owe him roughly $15M for the rest of this season. If I'm another team, why would I pay him $1.5M (meaning the Sox would pay $13.5M) rather than the prorated minimum (~$367K right now) and let the Sox pay $14.6M. I get his services either way.

    Oh I think Natick has that one wrapped up. You would post about Moreland a couple times a day, and that pace has slowed to glacial speed. Natick babbles about the catchers 2-3 times every page.

    Well, while they're at it, they should rule change the slider and/or the split finger fastball. The game changed with the advent of those pitches Or how about any pitch over 95 is now illegal. Ridiculous? Of course it is. It's up to the hitters to adjust. If they fail to do so, it's on them.

    As somebody penned somewhere in another thread, Ben was a great Director of Player Personnel; he was a less than stellar GM.
