  1. They tend to undervalue unproven prospects, but Montgomery has yet to play any proball. I can see thinking this was fair. I think subbing Cespedes or Bleis for Montgomery looks closer, but not on BTV.
  2. Pivetta vs Flaherty vs Buehler? I'd like manaea over any of these. (Does he cost a comp pick?)
  3. We can still swoop in and offer a couple hundred K more! Imagine, the Sox outbidding someone!
  4. I was really disappointed by Grissom in 2024, but I'll give him another chance. Sale's success only made it worse.
  5. I think the Cubs are close to signing Kelly.
  6. I think Crochet was a pivot from Burnes.
  7. Me, too. But, if JH was going to keep a tight budget, maybe signing him means nobody else for a couple years.
  8. Why is Vaz everyone's favorite catcher, now. We traded him away for a reason. He does not get the most out of his staff. He's okay to good on defense and is better than Wong, but at $10M, why? I'd rather sign Elias Diaz for half that money. Now that we have Crochet, do we look to add someone like Pivetta plus maybe a pen arm like Yates or Kittredge, and then swap Abreu for a RH'd version of himself? I'll still be underwhelmed, but at least some sort of effort will have been made.
  9. Now, factor in age and projected decline.
  10. You called me out, and you were right. I was wrong. It costs much more than I imagined.
  11. Yup. Within the context of having Crochet, I would not mind having Pivetta start over Crawford, and beef up the pen by putting an innings eater, like Crawford in the pen.
  12. Today, we lost... 4. Teel (Crochet trade) 5. Montgomery (Crochet trade) 8. Meidroth (Crochet trade) 18. Wikelman (Crochet trade) 39. Bastardo (Rule 5)
  13. Very steep. 2 of our top 5 prospects, plus Meidroth (a top 10.)
  14. Crochet only pitched over 65 innings, once, including college. This is very risky, but the guy can pitch.
  15. We needed a "bridge" catcher to Teel, anyway. Now, we need a long term catching solution.
  16. That's more than I thought it would take to get 2 years of an injury-prone pitcher with a half season of success. I guess the going rate is pretty high. What can we get for Crawford or Bello?
  17. Kelly has signed elsewhere.
  18. Bastardo selected by Jays.
  19. Wow, Teel, Montgomery, Meidroth and Wikelman. (Only one on the 40.) According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the full deal sends Teel, outfield prospect Braden Montgomery, infield prospect Chase Meidroth and right-hander starting pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez to the White Sox.
  20. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the full deal sends Teel, outfield prospect Braden Montgomery, infield prospect Chase Meidroth and right-hander starting pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez to the White Sox.
  21. Good bye, Teel. We hardly knew ya. I hope we don't stop here.
  22. Although I think Mayer is better than Teel, I think I'd rather keep the catcher, since Wong looks so scary behind the plate. Now, we need a catcher, badly.
  23. Exactly! Nate turns 35, soon. 110 ERA+ in 314 IP the last 2 years. Nick has a 108 ERA+ since 2023 in 288 IP. Nick turns 32 about the same time Nate turns 35. Based on this, he should get $78-84M/3.
  24. I'm fine with a DHAM-Grissom platoon at 2B, if we fix other bigger holes- like an ace, a closer and a catcher who can catch.
