  1. I'm okay with swear words and calling the Yankees Spankees, and I am generally against almost all censorship, but I'm okay with some limits being set, as long as they are known. We have had our share of personal attacks and bouts of going down the "politics road," and for the most part have done okay policing ourselves, but setting clear guidelines is fine with me. Welcome to this site and the very best fans in MLB, despite out sometimes blunt and obsessive natures.
  2. Yes, but I still think Mayer, Story, Romy, Sogard or even DHam may play 3B (edit) before Meidroth. It's no clear choice.
  3. Anthony went 4 for 5 with an HR to bring his AAA OPS to .935. Campbell went 2-5. POR lost 1-0, but Dobbins pitched an excellent 6 IP. GRE won as Monegro 1 hit the opps in 5 IP (2BB & 8K) SAL won 8-7 Arias 2-5 w 2B Taylor 2-4 w HR & BB
  4. He already said he was joking. He's for trading Mayer.
  5. This isn't going to be easy. MIN and KCR are both tied at 70-55, and showing no signs of taking their foot off the gas. We all can see they have a tough schedule coming up, and even play each other, at some point, but to get back into this race, we need to take care of our own business. Hopefully, tonight is the start of a run. We are 4.5 GB KCR & MIN (4 in the loss column) We are 7.5 GB BAL (6 losses) We are 8.5 GB NYY (7 losses) One game at a time!
  6. He won't be one of the two Sept call-ups.
  7. KCR lost. The Yanks are getting ruffed up in the 12th. Let's hope this is the start of a comeback.
  8. That was a big win, but we need more. Spring board this into something special!
  9. It's pretty common. When I used to be on BTV, almost all my trade suggestions gave more value than we got back. I'm not paying there, so I can't see the "values" anymore. That being said, I'd add a couple non 40 man higher ranked prospects to the package, if it's that close.
  10. Mid Game with the Sea Dogs and... Anthony is 3-3 w HR Campbell 2-3 Monegro has a 1 hitter going for GRE in 5 IP (2BB & 8K)
  11. Dobbins pitched a gem for POR. 6IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 7K His ERA is down to 3.17. His .608 OPSA must have gone down, tonight. This is soxprospects.com's summary on Dobbins: Potential up-and-down depth starter or multi-inning reliever. Ceiling of a back-end starter. At his best, will show plus velocity and three secondary pitches that can all get hitters out. Has pitches that move in all directions and confidence that he can throw any of them for strikes. Effortful delivery brings injury and consistency concerns, and needs to improve his fastball command. Fastball can get hittable later in games, and he needs to show he can consistently get left-handed hitters out to profile as a starter, but has developed into one of the more intriguing arms in the system.
  12. His 2024 4.09 FIP is better than... 4.18 Pivetta 4.19 Weissert 4.55 Bello 4.72 Wink 4.76 Crawford 4.78 Sims 4.88 Kelly 5.98 Horn 8.77 Garcia It is nearly as good as Bernardino's 4.01.
  13. 91 games in '22 (A-/A+) 78 games in '23 (A+/AA) 77 games in '24 (AA) (He was 20th in PAs on the farm, before this injury.)
  14. 2 HRs a game seems low, to me. It feels like 3-4 a game. The HR and unearned runs have killed us. No doubt. The rotation ha started to do better, but the pen has cancelled all gains.
  15. MLBTR reports: Rob Refsnyder turns 34 next March, and the utilityman is considering calling it a career after the 2024 season comes to an end. Speaking with Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe, Refsnyder said he is “undecided” about returning for what would be his tenth MLB season, and was even thinking about retirement even before he joined the Red Sox during the 2021-22 offseason. Once this year is over, Refsnyder said he’ll “take it step by step from there and decide what I do….You can still make a big impact not being in a uniform and it’s a lot easier for your family and their schedule.” As per the terms of the contract extension Refsnyder signed in June 2023, the Sox hold a $2MM club option ($150K) on his services for 2025. This option looks like a lock to be exercised if Refsnyder wishes to keep playing, as he has an excellent .298/.384/.472 slash line over 251 plate appearances in part-time duty for the Red Sox this season. Still, Refsnyder is eager to spend more time with his family, and is perhaps keen to start working towards his longer-term goal of working in a front office. I hope comes back. With O'Neill being a FA, we need his RHB.
  16. On the theme of trading Casas, why not go bigtime? Casas, Anthony & Grissom for Kirby (4 arbs left) and Austin Voth (RP w 1 arb year left) SP: Kirby, Nate (FA), Houck, Bello, Gio, Crawford, Criswell/Priester/Fitts/Dobbins RP: Jansen (FA), Sewald (FA), Whitlock, Slaten, Hendriks, Voth, Wink, Fulmer/Crawford/Criswell/Bernardino/Kelly/Booser/Weissert/I Campbell/Guerrero/ Mata/ Murphy/ Horn 1. Duran LF (Ref) 2. Abreu-Refsnyder RF (Campbell) 3. Yoshida DH (EValdez) 4. Devers 1B (Romy) 5. Story SS (Mayer, DHam) 6. Mayer 3B (Meidroth) 7. Wony-Teel C (Gasper) 8. DHam-Romy 2B (Campbell) 9. Rafaela CF (Duran)
  17. You forgot Gio, too. BTW, it's Fried not Fries. I don't think we go that large and long on a FA SP'er, although he is just 30. I like the 2.85 ERA since 2020, and the 3.13 FIP is not far off. 93 GS since 2021 (3.7 seasons) is about 25 GS and 149 IP per season. I think we go for an older pitcher at 1-2 years- like Nate.
  18. Here are the top SP'ers by fWAR that might be available, this winter: FA 3.0 Burnes 2.7 Flaherty 2.0 Snell 2.1 Fried 1.9 Eovaldi 2.7 Kikuchi 2.3 Wacha 1.8 Heaney 1.5 Severino Monty, Verlander, Scherzer, Morton Trade 4.5 Skubal DET 3.8 Crochet CWS 3.7 Kirby SEA 3.2 Gilbert SEA 2.7 Bibee CLE & Eflin 2.5 Castillo SEA 2.4 Miller SEA 2.2 Jon Gray TEX 2.0 Woo SEA 1.8 Gausman & Bassitt TOR 1.7 Taillon CHC 1.3 Sandoval LAA
  19. It's been fun watching two of MLB's top 11 FWAR players: 7. Duran 5.5 11. Devers 4.5 Other players giving us something to cheer for: 66. Abreu 2.5 82. O'Neill 2.2 (when healthy) 120. DHam 1.6 (especially the SBs) 140. Refsnyder 1.4 (not bad for a short side platoon player) 170. Yoshida 1.1 192. Rafaela 0.9 (hurt by the drag of poor SS D) 192. Wong 0.9 Our leading pitchers have fallen off a cliff, of late, but here they are: 10. Houck 3.6 90. Crawford & Jansen 1.4 95. Pivetta & Slaten 1.3 117. Bello & Criswell 1.1 175. Martin 0.7 225. Booser 0.5 250. Whit 0.4 275. Bern 0.3
  20. I took it that way. With Mayer's injury issues, I'm beginning to think you are right on he being the top prospect to trade.
  21. That's all we need!
  22. Since he's also a RHB, I think we give him every opportunity to win a job, such as RF, 2B or 3B. I doubt we view him as a DH (back-up LF'er.) Red= MLB ready by 2025 or earlier LHB control years: 9 Devers 6 Anthony, Mayer, Teel, Romero 5 Abreu, DHam 4 Duran, Casas 3 Yoshida RHB control years: 7 Rafaela 6 Campbell, Meidroth, Jh Garcia, Cespedes, Bleis, Arias, Jo Garcia, Zanetello 4 Wong, Grissom, E Valdez, Romy 3-4 Story 1 Refsnyder RHB/LHP: 6 Montgomery, Castro
