  1. Agreed. You can't just skip ST'ing, get 1 or 2 starts in AAA and jump into the rotation.
  2. Well, we do know Chapman and Hendriks are make believe closers.
  3. The idea might be to trade him for someone in a similar situation as Story but at another position. I'm not expecting to get much in return, and adding a good prospect to sweeten the return has downfalls to it, too. I do think getting a guy like Murphy, who plays a position we need an upgrade at might be the push this team needs to get us in the conversation.
  4. Yes, "back" means in AAA rehabbing for a few starts. Mid May might not even be realistic for 1 or 2 of these 3.
  5. I would totally agree. We sucked. I do think the two management teams had two very different plans given to them, thus... "Apples to Oranges."
  6. I know some posters do not think Abreu has much trade value, but I do. With our depth, we could also make it a 2 or 3 for one trade, involving 40 Man Roster players or prospects to sweeten the return. I don't want to decimate the depth, but we have some bottlenecks, now and will have more before too long. What could we get for Abreu, Cespedes and Mullins? What catcher might we get for Abreu, Wong and Romero? How about a real closer for Abreu, Grissom and Kelly? I'm not sure what is out there, and March-April are not typical months for big trades, so maybe we wait for nearer the deadline, but I do think something goes down, this year, unless we have so many injuries, we need these guys.
  7. I know I'm letting the excitement of the fast- approaching opening day cloud my judgment, but I'm really liking our chances in the AL, this season. The rest of the AL looks to have gotten weaker, from the Yanks to the Indians, Astros and Orioles. Maybe the Jays and a couple other teams improved, but not by much. My hopes are as much about how bad I think they are as I think we are better. Yes, we lost Jansen, Martin, O'Neal and Pivetta, but we lost a lot of deadweight, too, and if you total up the PAs and IP, we lost more bad than good, except for the pen. I may sound like a broken record, but I'm loving our depth, that extends beyond the 40 Man Roster, this year to Anthony, Mayer, Fulmer, several other pitchers and the Thompson-Eaton-Toro trio. I think our offense is better. Our defense should be way better and may jump 15 slots in the rankings. Our rotation is as good as it's been since 2018. Our pen looks shaky, especially at closer, but it is deep and may get help from starters used in the pen. I've always been high on Cora, and Brez seems like he knows what he's doing. GO SOX! Let's win this thing!
  8. Of course that matters. Spending matters. Both management teams had different tasks given to them. One could argue Bloom and Brez rebuilt a formidable team going forward- the task given to them. One could argue Boone and cashman failed at the task given to them- win a WS or get there often. I'm glad they kept both of these guys and expect the same results.
  9. It might depend on how well or poorly, Rafaela, Abreu and Story are doing, too. (Health, too.)
  10. You think his stock is as high as it will ever be?
  11. Apples to oranges. I'm thrilled the Yankees' management has not changed.
  12. We'll see when these guys come back, hopefully in April, who might be moved to the pen or demoted to AAA.
  13. Ref and Bregman are the only two everyday players with less than 3 years of control. Hell, Yoshida is crowded out of a spot on the 26, already. (I think he gets 20 days in rehab after the IL stint, then what?) I think some trades will be made- maybe this summer (Abreu or Story?)
  14. I wonder if any team would be interested in Story, assuming we pay some cash or take back a big contract to balance the cost out. Notin mentioned a Story for Murphy trade, a while back. That would greatly improve our catching while giving mayer and instant shot at the SS job. The problem is what if he struggles? We owe Story something like $77M/3, and Murphy is owed $60M/4. His tax hit is just $12.2 a year, which is half Story's. How about Story + $6M a year and Wong for Murphy?
  15. Boone is the best thing to happen to the Sox since, well... Cashman.
  16. A nice list. I might add the Garcia brothers, but am not sure who moves down. Perales, Bleis, Cespedes and Dobbins are the top 10 prospects not on the list.
  17. I think this might be the year, the Yanks finish below .500. They are old and hobbled. Goldschmidt is 37, LeMahieu 36, Stanton 35 and Judge 33. These are not their bench guys, like Ref is for us. Stanton has two injuries, already. Carrasco is 38. Cole is 34 and out for the year. Stroman is 34, and they could not dump him off on anyone. Gil is out for most or all of '25. Fried and Rodon are 31 and 32. I'm thinking they may have more injuries, as the year goes on.
  18. I'd still like to see how Devers would compare to Casas at 1B defense... someday. Maybe, next year.
  19. Here are a couple questions: 1. What batting slot will Campbell have in August? 2. If he plays mostly 2B, where will he end up ranked out of the 30 2Bmen with the most innings at 2B? (I wanna say 2nd for Q1, but I'm going with 5th. I'm going to guess 14th on D.)
  20. Let's hope Campbell's hot time in Mexico carries over to the start of the season. I can't believe we are so close to opening day!
  21. That's how I see it. While I do think a chance exists for his stock to rise back up, a little bit, I doubt he ever gets much higher. He's so far down on the depth chart, and we have some very nice looking middle IF prospects on the rise, I'd do it. The only slot I see him having a shot at is 3B, once Bregman bolts, and I doubt he can ever hit well enough to be a plus 3Bman, anyway.
  22. I might do this trade. It's Arias that hurts the most. I'm not sure MIA wants Romero & Arias, but maybe sub Bleis for Valera, but then again, not they get 2 OF'ers. How about Abreu, Bleis, Cespedes, Perales and Mullins or Monegro?
  23. Not bold. The AL sucks, this year. SEA might be the second best team in the AL, behind BOS. That's how bad it is!
