    Cora did say, Mayer will be the first infielder called up. He won't be called up to ride the bench.

    Good to see you back, Max. The 2022 season had a budget $26M more than '21, the playoff year. By the end of the season, it was $19M more than '21. Of course, there was so much cut after 2019 and before 2021, that the gains were really just illusionary. We did cut from '22 to '23 and '23 to ;24, despite all the empty promises.

    Losing Soto and not having Stanton as a hopeful to take up some of the slack is not good. I realize Torres was not loved by some Yankee fans, but he was a plus, and now he's gone. I just don't see the talent, this year. If Cole and Gil were healthy, you'd be close to a contender for the playoffs. Now, I don't see it. (With the whole AL looking underwhelming, there is still hope for almost every team... almost.)

    Yes, Devers will play 3B, when Bregman sits. I might be the only one hoping Devers picks up a 1BMan's mitt, and give it a go. He could rotate with Casas at 1B and DH, and both could play 160 games.

    I'm not sure SEA got much better, but everyone else got worse in their division and in much of the AL.

    It's not lying or misleading, if Bloom meant what he said to Devers about being the longtime 3Bman. We switched GMs. Did they handle it well, maybe not. Bregman at 3B and devers at DH (maybe 1B, someday) is the best alignment. It was obvious to me- day one.

    It was the obvious choice- Day one. Nothing changed.

    Besides naming Chapman the closer, "big surprise," Cora had named Slaten, Whitlock, Hendriks and Wilson, earlier, but yesterday he named Weissert and Kelly. One slot remains, I'm thinking maybe Criswell, but maybe it's lefty Bernardino. Newcomb is the 5th starter. Abreu is "100% on the opening day roster."

    Well, we did go younger at closer and kept up the streak of going with aging pitchers as closers. One time great, Kenley Jansen is 37 years old and 177 days, while once great Chapman is 37 years old and 26 days. We have the young sprout, Liam Hendriks, waiting in the wings at 36 and 44 days. I do hope Chapman can do well and hold the job, all year. A merry-go-round closer position would likely spell doom for this promising team.

    On paper does not win games, granted, but it feels better looking good on paper in March than looking like a fringe 4th place team.

    Stick a fork in 'em. No Soto. No Cole. No Gil. No Torres, Cortes & Holmes. Stanton has two injuries. There aren't enough players to trade to get to a winning team in 2025. Toast.

    Good point. They have perfected what Bloom could not do. Just keep having a winning records. Bloom had one, but I'm not totally convinced management was fully behind building winning teams, or at least not to the extent the Yankees were, especially with spending.

    He knows I'm right and is in hiding. Jacko used to bash Boone and Cashman, a lot, in between supporting them and their long record of .500+ seasons.

    I did not say he was successful. I said Bloom & Brez MAY have done a better job than Boone and cashman's who had the job of winning a ring, which they failed to do and are still around, unlike Bloom.
