    MLBTR reports... it also seems like a hefty price to pay and a reflection of the current pitching predicament in Milwaukee... Baseball America ranked Yophery Rodriguez Milwaukee’s #14 prospect coming into the year. They note that he’s likely to be moved off center field into a corner over time, which will put more pressure on his bat to carry the profile. Still, from the Sox perspective, it looks like a nice bit of business. Priester didn’t appear to be in their short-term plans. He was on pace to be out of options next year and may have been on track to getting squeezed off the roster. By pulling the trigger today, they have subtracted a depth piece but added some notable future talent. .

    It would take a Casas trade (or injury) to boost Yoshida to take his place in the line-up. (I am not for trading Casas, especially to make room for Yoshida.)

    Somebody not on the 40, so to me, Fulmer looks like the guy. Does he have an opt-out date?

    There must have been something that soured Brez & Co. on Priester. This goes against the recent trend of trading everyday players for pitching.

    It was a bit strange Ref started vs a RHP, but we've faced so few lefties. I wouldn't say 1 for w a BB was all that cold, either.

    I like "riding the hot hand," too. It bothered me that Cora often sat a guy after going something like 7 for his last 12.

    It remains to be seen how many games Wilyer starts when a lefty is the opposing SP'er, and whose expense? (Maybe Ref displaces Rafaela vs LHPs, since CR's splits are about even, anyway.)

    There is room for both. Just play Campbell in CF and let Mayer-Story cover the middle IF. Rafaela takes DHam's uilitiy role on the bench and can platoon with Abreu, once Ref retires.

    I'm still holding out for Devers to pick up a 1Bman's mitt. If Casas fizzles out or gets traded, Yoshida has a slot at DH, again.

    Good idea, and send Fitts to the pen to help Whit with the log relief role in mid to high leverage situations.

    Remember the guy, last April who was complaining about the guy "kicking the ball all around RF?" We all go overboard, at times, on smaller than legit sample sizes.

    To the Devers doubters and small sample size worriers, it's time to smile like Devers was, today. WOW! What a mood shifter. Updated OPS: 1.492 Abreu (Amazingly, his OPS goes down 130 by going 3 for 7 w 4 rbi) 1.310 Romy (showing maybe '24 was no fluke) 1.199 Narvaez (getting closer to being the #1 catcher) 1.143 KC (steady rookie) 1.071 Refsnyder (still doing well- today vs a RH'd SP'er) .974 Bregman (the notorious slow starter) .825 Devers for evers .733 Story (fine by me) Waiting for a turn-around: .591 Duran (maybe started game 2), .517 Casas, .473 Rafaela (3 hits in gm 2) Wong is at .279 w Narvaez breathing down his neck. DHam .182 is playing like he wants to be in AAA. 3 of our 6 SP'ers have ERAs over 5.19, but I doubt Houck or Buehler will lose their slots, anytime soon. Newcomb 5.19 or Fitts 4.50 will likely be the one demoted. The pen is surprising me, but the depth was always there.
