  1. For 5-6 other AL teams, yes.
  2. James Paxton, Danny Jansen, Luis Garcia and Lucas Simms had better outlooks on AUG 1, 2024 than these two guys.
  3. Maybe a little better but a lot worse on D and baserunning.
  4. The Yanks, Tigers and Rangers all got significantly better, while we did not. SEA & HOU got way better, on paper. That's 5 teams. TOR stayed about the same as the Sox and are ahead of us 5 games. We gained on nobody but CLE & MIN who sold. There is no was to sugarcoat this Bloom-like deadline.
  5. So, the 26 might be... Crochet, Giolito, Bello, Buehler, May Chapman, Whitlock, Wilson, Matz, Weissert, Hicks, Bernardino, Alcala or Murphy Narvaez & Wong Toro & Romy Mayer (if healthy) & Romy (DHam) Story Bregman Duran Rafaela Abreu & Anthony Anthony & Yoshida/Refsnyder The rest of the 40: Murphy, Harrison, Fitts, Criswell, Kelly, I Campbell (IL: Houck & Guerrero) K Campbell, (DHam) Grissom, Eaton, Sogard (IL: Mayer)
  6. Sick of the whole "had interest in _____" reports.
  7. Wait till winter, once again. I ask again, "How Soon Is Now?"
  8. We still have a shot for the last WC berth, but no way can we say we have top 4-5 AL team on paper. Had we gotten Ryan and maybe Bednar or O'Hearn, we could have argued we were top 3.
  9. I still think we "coulda-shoulda," but this is sickening.
  10. To me, that deal was a salary dump. The return was not the object. Plus, I feel Harrison was the best hope. Tibbs was maybe tied with Hicks as the second best hope. Joes Bello may be the winner.
  11. Not even close" on Joe Ryan, and apparently he was the last shot attempt (not "fallback.")
  12. Brez just took a big hit in my scorecard book.
  13. Dustin May and Steven Matz. This is worse than a joke. Fred was right: we shoulda sold everything not tied down for 2026.
  14. If we don't get Ryan or Mitch Keller, we'll be wondering how we couldn't outdo Kohl Drake and David Hagaman for Merrill Kelly. The Mason and Sears trade might have been matched. Hell, Zack Littell would have been better than nothing.
  15. Like sending Fisk his contract a day late.
  16. We need to get Joe Ryan just to keep even.
  17. If we don't go big, I'd prefer we sell, sell, sell. Chapman, Bregman, Gio, Wilson & Buehler. Not kidding, here.
  18. Rangers get Merrill Kelly, so the Sox are against the wall. I'm hoping for Joe Ryan or Mitch Keller.
  19. It wasn't really my wish list. Mine is Joe Ryan and Soderstrom or maybe Wilson Contreras for Yoshida, Casas and cash
  20. Abreu's career numbers vs LHPs before 2025 is too small to know much, as well, especially when you consider it was his first 77 PAs in the bigs. That sample size is not much bigger than 2025's, alone. .627 in 49 PAs in 2025. .514 in 77 PAs from 2023-2034. BTW... Duran is... .572 in 2025 in 156 PAs- a sample size bigger than Abreu's career Sample size! ,680 from '23-'24 in 279 PAs- a sample size big enough to judge. 2024-2025 .627 Duran in 386 PAs .572 Abreu in 116 PAs. Oh, and by the way, Duran's first years in the bigs vs LHPs: .438 in 84 PAs in '21 .449 in 42 PAs in '22 That's about the same sample size as Abreu's career, and Duran was given a chance to bat more vs LHPs, eventually. .
  21. A significant one. Merrill Kelly would be a huge upgrade over TBD, our current 5th starter. He's got a 3.22 ERA (133 ERA+) , 3.53 FIP, 1.057 WHIP and a very nice .624 OPS Against, this year. Those numbers are solid #3 numbers and better than many #2's. Crochet Giolito Kelly Bello (Harrison/Fitts/Houck/Criswell could be upgraded, too.)
