  1. David Price Again Dealing With Elbow Problems\\ https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/david-price-again-dealing-with-elbow-problems.html
  2. We don't pay a tax on the $11M. We will, if we add him to the 40 man roster. It might still be worth adding him rather than sign a player like Young again. Young got $6.5M, which is way more than the tax would be on Castillo.
  3. There is a way we could reset the luxury tax next year instead of this year by replacing Young and Moreland with Devers and Travis or some cheap FA corner IF'er. Let Abad walk. If we have to, we could trade another contract. Personally, it would make more sense next year, so we would be one step lower on the tax scale into the future, but I think it's probably easier this year. I doubt there would be any takers for Young or Moreland. Trading both would free up about $4M to spend elsewhere this year.
  4. There will be plenty of good RP'ers available at the deadline.
  5. Just let it go. Man, this town is tough. Everyone and everything is under a million microscopes.
  6. I'd love Votto here in Boston, but his contract is large and long, still. $$157M/6 or $170M/7. 18-23:$25M annually, 24:$20M club option ($7M buyout) He's worth the money now, but he may start declining soon, and he will be costly.
  7. He has been taking them away from Moreland, but now that we have Nunez, I think Young will start playing LF vs LHPs. (I guess they could play Nunez in LF and Young at DH.) As bad as Young has been vs LHPs, he's still better than Beni vs lefties.
  8. HRam is fine. Lin is a dream not reality. Nunez should play SS while we give Bogey 10 days on the DL. After that, he can rotate between 3B, DH and LF.
  9. Young is struggling vs LHPs this year. I know that's what we have him on the roster for. I get the frustration. I'm not against trading him or finding a better player to spell Beni. He does have a .708 overall OPS, which isn't horrible. I'd still prefer him over Brentz, but his leash is getting shorter and shorter. It would be nice, if we could trade Moreland and Young and free up $4M (1/3 of their contract cost for 2017). Then, we could trade for Alonso or some other 1Bman/DH type or someone to platoon with Beni. People are ragging on Young, but there are plenty other hitters with worse splits than Young. vs LHPs .621 Young (surprisingly, he's .759 vs RHPs, which is better than many on our team) .620 Rutledge (28 PAs) .577 Moreland (has 56 PAs vs LHPs) .574 Beni (has 62 PAs vs LHPs) vs RHPs .656 Leon .600 Vaz (174 PAs) .426 Holt .412 Marrero (116 PAs) To me, our biggest issues are not HRam, Young and our catchers' overall value, they are... 1) Beni vs LHPs. 2) Moreland vs anybody 3) Bogey's slump 4) Lack of a power hitter 5) Our catcher offense
  10. By moving HRam to 1B, Nunez can actually get Moreland out of the line-up. HRam is not sitting, unless he needs one day off here or there.
  11. I'm a "cliff dweller", but I agree. This was not trading away the future.
  12. What I saw was HRam turning to look over his shoulder like a T Ball player. He barely made it safe! Lack of fundamentals is another reason to can jf's ass.
  13. Plus, haven't you heard? It's predetermined that Price will suck int he playoffs. Verlander is 7-5 3.39.
  14. He's actually doing better, of late (8 ERs in his last 4 starts), and he's under team control for less years than Price. Price: $127M/5 (after this year) Verlander: $56M/2 Of course, we could maybe trade Price and add someone else (Cueto, Gray...?)
  15. While I agree with all of this, I'm not bothered by any of this crap. I doubt any Sox players are still thinking about it. This may be a sign of weak management, but to me, the lack of fire & desire is a bigger sign of managerial weakness.
  16. We could even save money by trading Price and adding Verlander.
  17. JF sucks. Why keep him at the helm? Sometimes just a big change at the helm is enough to provide a spark. This team has zero fire. Zero desire. Zero focus. Total haplessness.
  18. Playing Moreland or Beni vs LHPs is an even worse choice. Young can only play one of those slots, and not very well of late.
  19. .718 in his last 28 days in hundreds better than Moreland. .786 in June.
  20. Yup. Platooning him stunts his development. 1) We need to put the best players on the field each game. If Devers has to sit here and there to make room for a better player vs a LHP, then that's what should be done. 2) Even playing vs just RH'd starters and PH opportunities in MLB will likely give Devers more playing time and "development" than had he stayed in AAA. 3) We have faced lefty starters in about 1 in 5 games. That's not going to stunt Devers' growth. We might also see Nunez play LF vs LHPs as Beni sucks with those splits. He could also DH as HRam plays 1B. He could also play SS: maybe Bogey needs a 10 day DL stint. Devers should get plenty of playing time, despite the acquisition of Nunez.
  21. What's the most you'd give for 2+ months of Alonso? Would Travis, Beeks or Lakins be too much? Ockimey, Beeks & Lakins?
  22. Luis Ysla to be DFA'd to make room for Nunez. Rutledge will finish his rehab soon and must be on the 25 man roster or be DFA'd or DL'd. Not sure what the plan will be for him. (Make room for a RP'er or 1Bman basher?) (Ben Taylor to DL as Boyer comes off it.)
  23. I was the last to agree that Bobby V must go, so I'm not one to jump on the manager. This isn't a knee jerk reaction on my part. I've not liked JF's style and substance almost from the start.
