  1. Cubs to sign Brandon Morrow to about $10-11M per year.
  2. Gregerson signs with the Cards for $5M/1 with a vesting $6M option with a $1M buyout.
  3. He was worth it--just not for a team that can't afford it.
  4. Most hitters are successful when they "go the other way" on the right pitches. Here's one I just came up with: most hitters do very well, when they are on a hot streak.
  5. Put it this way, I'd rather have Hosmer over Moreland or Duda, IF THE WERE PAID THE SAME. (Not by much) The pay and years will be very very different.
  6. I think the Yanks look to dump Ellsbury, even if they have to pay much of the money. They should keep Frazier. How about Hembree (out of options) for Robertson and $5M? You'd save about $7M next year.
  7. Anybody is a better fit than Hosmer.
  8. We could have taken more money, so the prospects wouldn't have had to be as good, We could have given them Castillo (instead of Castro) plus Mata and Brannen, and told them to keep the $30M.
  9. I've always felt like North Carolina deserved a team.
  10. I know he didn't want to play here. We had a zero percent chance of getting him. I was responding to the point made that "at least we still have our farm hands" comment. I'd rather have GS than 2 single A farm hands. It's no consolation.
  11. Pitchers will pitch GS differently in Yankee Stadium than they did in NL parks. I do think he hits 60 though.
  12. It only took single A prospects to get GS. Plus, the Marlins took Castro off the Yankees hands and will pay $30M, if GS does not opt out in 3 years. I'm all for rebuilding the farm, but I'd have been happy to trade low prospects for GS. I'd have paid his whole contract and been able to give even less. Hell, we could have traded Castillo.
  13. If we had traded JBJ and scraps for Stanton, I think GS would play LF, Beni CF and Betts remains in RF.
  14. Well, JBJ's financial cost would have been close to Castro's. The $30M going to the Yanks only goes, if GS does NOT opt out. My guess is, the Marlins would rather have JBJ than Castro, because he's a very tradeable commodity. We probably would not have had to give Mata to compensate for Guzman. Too bad we were not on GS's list.
  15. Someone needs to put a hit out on Jeter, before he trades the Yanks Yelich and Ozuna for a bag of balls.
  16. The luxury tax cost being "only" $25M is a big plus to a team straddling the luxury limit. The fact that you were able to dump Castro makes this deal a real head-scratcher. Too bad the Marlins couldn't have afforded to just tell GS, "tough s***- you're staying here or going to SF."
  17. Yes, in the dugout as a washed up journeyman has been.
  18. It's almost to the point that it's just not fair. I hate to think this way, but our only hope might be that the injury bug strikes the Yanks for 3 years.
  19. Why did MLB allow the sale of the team to people who can't afford to run a MLB team?
  20. ...and some posters wanted to trade Bogey & JBJ for Stanton! LOL!
  21. Yes, adding a healthy and strong Price could be huge. I also think several of our hitters will have upticks next season after all of them had down ticks this year. Smith's return could be big. Thornburg also. The loss of ERod should be more than compensated for by all of the above. That still leaves a gaping hole in the clean-up slot. If we bring Moreland back or even worse, sign Hosmer, I'll vomit on the spot.
  22. Our pitching was our biggest strength this year. I do think we need to add to it, but the clean-up slot is our highest priority, and it was even before the Yanks added GS.
  23. Please stop the Moreland return talk. It's making me physically ill. I agree, we need pitching, but without a clear clean-up hitter, we won't compete with the Yanks and Astros and Guardians.
  24. Right now, I view Vaz as the better hitter, but that could change. Now, Swihart to DH for Leon would be an idea to put forward. If it were to be allowed in the future, maybe the Angels would bat Ohtani and DH for their weakest hitter.
  25. Low A prospects and a salary dump in Castro for... Giancarlo Freakin' Stanton! I knew the cost would be low, but this is sick!
