  1. Narvaez Campbell Mayer Anthony Dobbins Jh Garcia next... Tolle (Did I forget someone?)
  2. Our OF situation begs for relief: Anthony- Has it all. He is a FT'er who can play all 3 OF positions, but likely best in corner OF. Rafaela- Excellent defense, despie too many errors, lacks plate discipline but may be okay. Good runner. Duran- Great speed, decent defense in LF, not so good batting vs LHPs. Abreu- Very good defense in RF, may start batting vs LH SPs, next year. Jh Garcia- Could be the RHB OF'er we have needed. Campbell- LF is probably his best landing spot. Refsnyder- corner OF vs LHPs only Yoshida- emergency corner OF only Only 3 can play in the OF and 1 can DH. Rafaela can play middle Infield but why waste his OF defense? I gotta think someone not names Anthony and probably Rafaela is traded, this winter- maybe even two from this list. (Ref may retire & Masa might be DFA'd.)
  3. I think Fajardo and Futrell may climb the rankings in a big way.
  4. We now have 15 home games and 12 away games. The two away series includes a west coast trip: AZ and ATH, who are playing well for 2 months. TBR & TOR The three homestands: PIT & CLE NYY & ATH DET to end the season It's crunch time!
  5. He would need to get hurt, IMO, to not trigger the mutual option. The Sox will not limit his innings for the trigger clause to not happen. I am sure of that. He only need 21 IP in 5 or 6 more starts. I guess he could have a couple bad games, where they yank him after 1-3 IP, and then it becomes borderline, but I think the odds are he gets the option in his favor. If we are up 7 games with 10 to go, maybe they skip a start, but do you really want to get him mad? (He shouldn't get mad, since he gave us nothing and earned $19M in 2024, so he owes us one. We shoulda made the clause 200 or 240 IP over 2 seasons.)
  6. Agreed. They and we might think Tolle is a better winning option, but they traded for Harrison for a reason. IMO, he was the "prize" of the return, although the return was not the major reason for the Devers trade. I also think they are worried about roster issues, this winter. Waiting until opening day to put Houck on the 60 Day IL to open up a slot for a non 40 man guy is too appealing to Brez & Co. We already have some 40 man roster issues going on. It seems we are keeping Hicks on the 26 (out of options) in hopes that by next year he can figure things out (with help from them.) We have Yoshida, basically a DH only player, taking up a 26 and 40 man roster, although he could be demoted to AAA. We have the oft-injured Casas with the potential to hit over .800 or .850, who seems a better fit for DH than 1B, but we have a hole at 1B, so... We have Grissom, who will likely be traded or nontendered, and DHam who probably gets another year of life, since 2B is still a big worry due to Mayer's constant health issues. We have Sandlin and Mullins as Rule 5 guys. I think we hold off on Tolle, unless they aleady know some heads are rolling, this winter.
  7. Yes. I doubt the bring anyone up just to give May another day of rest.
  8. Buehler will not start, unless he shows vast improvement in the pen, and even then, they may need to keep him there. I think it's Tolle or Harrison. Tolle would need a 40 man slot and hold it during the winter, when roster slots are needed.
  9. I'm not so sure it's all that easy to say, "Just sign Gio," but of course one could say the same to me when I say, "Just trade for Ryan." One choice does not involve trading away a key player, so that looks better, on paper, but in reality, is JH really going to rework Bregman's deal, give Chapman a raise to stay here, pay all the new extensions and also pay Gio? I sure hope so, but even if he does, I still think we need Ryan, too. I wrote about the long list of SP'er depth we had over the winter. Look what happened. We ended up with Newcomb in the rotation to start the season! Our "ace" from 2024 floundered then went on the IL and will miss 2026, too. Crawford missed the whole season, and our $21M solution pitcher was just demoted to the pen. Criswell filled in nicely, last year- on the IL now. Dobbins was kind of an unknown and might have been slotted 11th or 12th, and he went out for the season. Now, we are supposed to count on the same names, but less of them with Buehler, Houck, and newcomb all gone to help us just stay even with this year? No disrespect, here, but count me out. 1. I think penciling in Tolle as a top 4 SP'er is a big risk, despite me thinking he may be as good as Ryan real soon. He may also have his inning restricted in 2026. 2. Gio is not on the list until we sign him, so it's Crochet, Bello and maybe Tolle for 150 IP. 3. Your list of Sandoval, Dobbins, Crawford, Fitts, Harrison, Early & Perales should be our 5-7 starters not 4-7. 4. I see it like this: Option A (We bring Gio back): Crochet, Ryan, Bello, Gio and Tolle, Sandoval, Dobbins, Crawford, Fitts, Harrison, Early & Perales as 5-7. Option B (No Gio): Crochet, Ryan, Bello, Keller and Tolle, Sandoval, Dobbins, Crawford, Fitts, Harrison, Early & Perales as 5-7. We need to look at improving our rotation- not keeping it about the same and hoping we have less injuries.
  10. It's not uncommon that the naysayers disappear during good times. Haven't been hearing as much "Cora is an idiot" or "Fire Breslow"...
  11. Not only the extensions, but the boldest trade made since Sale, and the highest AAV given to any player in Sox history by more than 25% (not counting deferred money calculations.) They took a chance by replacing the $16M Jansen with the $12M Chapman and BAM! They masterfully took advantage of the Yankee surplus at the catcher position by getting Narvaez. It took 4 years to get Whitlock back to a relief-only role, but they did it. They made Rafaela a FT player, despite worries about plate discipline. Recent additions to the pen, like Weissert, Slaten, Wilson and now Matz have paid off. Gio looked like yet another putrid SP'er signing, and now is on a mega roll. They figured out how to help Bello turn into a solid #2. Did I forget to mention the Crochet trade and extension? No, but he's worth mentioning twice.
  12. Feeling pretty good! Won 7 of 8. Won 20 out of 30 (including two 3 game losing streaks) Won 34 out of 50 (since June 30th) June 30>>> 34-16 BOS (turning on the afterburners) 33-18 TOR (due for a tough stretch) 30-20 KCR (hanging tough) 29-20 ATH (wow!) 29-22 SEA (look good on paper) 27-24 TEX (pretty much toast.) 26-24 CLE (not much of a chance) 25-25 DET (Who's afraid of a big bad tiger?) 25-25 NYY (.500 for 2 months!) 24-26 BAL (fading after a hot stretch) 23-26 HOU (Lots of injuries) 20-29 MIN & CWS 17-32 TBR (What happened?)
  13. I'm not worried about Bregman, at all. He may end up over .900 and still be passed by Anthony!
  14. Current Sox OBP leaders: .401 Anthony .380 Bregman .375 Lowe .360 Refsnyder .334 Duran .333 Jh Garcia .325 Romy & Abreu
  15. I have no history of heart problems. I want to keep it that way.
  16. Bregman better start hitting, or Anthony will pass him for the team OPS leader slot. July 1st: .938 Bregman .667 Anthony August 1st: .923 Bregman .830 Anthony Before today's game: .900 Bregman (.891, now.) .857 Anthony (.865, now)
