  1. Yes, those crazy angles are funky, and it wouldn't change the charm of the park to take them out, but overall, the park is very very nice.
  2. We have a nice 9 game stretch, but it gets tougher after that: 3 vs DET 3 vs CWS 3 @ BAL 4 @ SEA 3 @ MN 3 vs SEA 3 vs LAA 3 @ NYY 3 @ WSH Then, I nice stretch right before the AS Break: 3 @ KCR 3 vs TEX 4 vs TOR
  3. Yes, Holt and Nunez are better than most teams have as third base depth. just one is probably better!.
  4. I rarely critisize in game managerial moves, but while at the game last night I was surprised Porchello was not yanked when he walked Kemp on 4 pitches. I still am thrilled with Cora so far.
  5. We really don't have a good platoon match for Moreland. They all hit righties better.
  6. well said. I'm hoping these two wins spring board us into another long hot streak.
  7. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it! Hope we have started a nice winning stretch here.
  8. My daughter's high school was named after Texas pioneer William B Travis. Sam Travis is a little Sam Houston and a little William Travis.
  9. We moved down behind the sox dugout for the 7th to 9th inning. Great game. Thunderstorms opened up right after we got to the van.
  10. It's beenover 95 for 15 straight days, and we haven't even hit summer, yet. You have to play indoors in this sauna. The park here is really nice. There's a huge window in LF that gives you a feeling of being outdoors. The grass is green. The seats are comfortable and all facing home plate. I've been to over a dozen MLB parks and this is one of the best.
  11. I take back all the crap I spewed on Holt. I was dead wrong.
  12. You are 100% wrong. This park is beautiful!
  13. I'm at the game. I called for Porcello to be taken out after walking Kemp on 4 pitches. Oh well. Barnes came threw nicely. beni hit another bomb. Moreland, too! Hope the pen can hold the lead. Nunez sucks on D.
  14. Yes indeed. I'm no where near the point of suggesting Devers be benched or sent to AAA. It may be getting close to the point of demoting him in the line-up a little bit, but who is hitting well enough to leap frog him? Maybe, if Pedey returns near form, he can knock Devers down one slot (at least vs lefties).
  15. Look how nice it was having someone with power up in the 1 slot worked for us last night (see #2 point). I do agree on Moreland's likely return to near his career norm. What will we do then? Assume Pedey comes back pretty close to what he was, which means very little power, and Devers settles in around .750 to .775. Our line-up might have some issues... We might go with this... 1) Betts (over .900) 2) Bogey (over .800) 3) Beni (over .800) 4) JD (over .900) 5) Moreland (maybe around .800) 6) Devers (.750-.775) 7) Pedey (.760-.780) 8) JBJ (hopefully ends up over .680) 9) Leon (over .600) This could be enough, but having a great 5 slot hitter sure helps. Plus, it pushed everyone else down a notch, thereby upgrading most of the 6-9 slots.
  16. I'd have gotten stuck between the seats!
  17. I caught a lot of grief for suggesting we sign Moustakas and move Devers to part time 1B, DH and 3B. Asking a 21 year old to learn on the fly during a highly charged championship run was tempting fate. I was more worried about Devers' defense, but now his offense has become an issue. The Moreland signing puzzled me, but it has worked out very well, especially with the release of HRam. We may end up having to live or die with Devers. I could think of worse problems, but it could become a major issue. Holt and Devers offer some help, especially if Pedey can come back strong, but neither looks like a good choice to become a FT 3Bman. I will say, if our weakest position is 3B/2B and we have 4 guys with some positives on their side all looking for playing time, we're not all that bad off.
  18. I've always fely Bogey was the perfect number 2 hitter (little HR power- but lots of doubles and a nice OBP). Studies show the best hitter should bat second, so that's why I suggested Betts second. My "old school" mentality always felt you best overall hitter should bat 3rd, so it would go something like this: Start with Betts 3rd. JD goes 4th. Beni leads off. Bogey bats 2nd. Moreland up 5th vs RHPs and maybe Pedey vs LHPs, if healthy. Devers up 6th vs RHPs and Moreland vs RHPs. Pedey up 7th vs RHPs. The rest is piecemeal. This might be the best using what studies show is the best: 1) Bogey 2) Betts 3) Beni 4) JD 5) Moreland 6) Pedey 7) Devers 8) JBJ 9) Leon
  19. When the ball was hit, I knew it was going to be an HR and was coming very close to me. I didn't even stand up, because I knew it was too far to my left to have a chance at it. It went right into the hands of a Sox fan, who dropped it towards my direction. It ended up being grapped by a guy about 5-6 seats away from me. Beni hit that ball very hard and far. I was in the second deck about 7 rows back. It was a memorable moment, for sure.
  20. Really, the only question is, would it be better for the team to have a hitter or 2 in front of Mookie? Answer ..... YES! Aren't these questions valid? 1) Is getting 40-50 more PAs more important than getting a few more RBI situations? 2) Isn't it nice having a HR hitter in the 1 slot in games were the bottom of the order is coming up in the 9th? 3) As long as Beni, JD and Moreland are still bashing the ball, is Mookie's slightly better power all that much of an upgrade over their power? (His OBP blows them away by more than his power blows them away- especially JD and Moreland's.) Now, that being said, I'd bat Betts 2nd.
  21. I found a metered spot on the street 2 blocks away. I only had to pay $1.80 as the spot became free after 6 pm. The lot next to the spot charged $30. One a half block away was $20. 4-5 blocks away charged $7-10. (You should see me use coupons at the local Kroger.)
  22. Could we have an encore please for all the Swihart fans who have been enraged at Cora for not playing him more often? Take a bow, guys, because your man is now play more regularly and sinking fast with the team's lowest average and of course OPS. One supposes his mission these days is to make us like the other guys for what they have done. Swihart needs more time before judging him so definitively, but yes, Cora and DD know our players better than we do. The other side of the argument is that Leon came to life about the time the calls for Swihart became louder. Vaz had a huge hit last night, but has been flat all year. Trust the scouts and management, until they prove they shouldn't be trusted. IMO, they are far away from that point.
  23. Just got home from the game and watched the replay of beni's HR. We're in the video shot! If anyone cares to go back and look, I'm the to the left of where the ball landed. I'm in the blue shirt to the left- last onein the row in front of the landing spot. There's a guy in red behing me who bumps into a guy holding a beer, and some spilled on my back. You can see me looking back. I'm the bald guy. My wife is to my left (your right) and our two friends are next to her. One is in an orange shirt. Their son was up getting a beer and missed it. Wow! What a game. Our two bottom order guys come through with 2 outs and set it all up for Beni. I'll be upper deck tomorrow night behind 3B. Time to even up the series.
  24. I have a dark blue shirt with Red Sox Baseball lettering. I'm nearly bald. My wife calls me Charlie brown
  25. That HR was 10 feet to the left of me! The guy behind me spilled beer on my back. It was worth it!
