  1. I hope you spend a big chunk of your budget space on Donaldson. He's fading faster than Pujols did.
  2. ...and the rain...
  3. Pablo was a plus defender before he came to Boston. Devers seems to have plus range. That's not his problem, unless he gains more weight or continues having hammy issues. I'd like to see him lose 10-15 1bs. He's struggling. All players struggle, and it should be expected that a 21 year old who rocketed through the minors will struggle more than the average player. I am far, far away from giving up on Devers, but it has always worried me that a team on a championship run would force a kid to learn-on-the-go right smack in the middle of the hottest media spotlight in MLB. I think Devers is tough enough to overcome being blamed for making a playoff series blowing error, and I hope to God that never happens, but it concerns me a whole lot that it might happen, and he might now recover. What choice do we have now? I'd have less faith in Nunez at 3B. He's equally bad on defense and is having an equally mediocre offensive season. Holt? Maybe, but I wouldn't view him as an overall upgrade. I think we are stuck with Devers, and although Moreland has had a very nice season, maybe some posters who poo-poo'd my sign Mosse rants can at least see the reasoning behind my suggestion (not that Moose is lighting up the league).
  4. They've had their best players on the DL for the last month or two. All are coming back or just got back. I wouldn't count them out just yet, but the A's are stomping and have been for months.
  5. The A's won on an overturned call in the bottom of the 9th and a Matt Olsen walk off HR in the 10th. These guys are for real. The 'stros are in trouble.
  6. Darwinzon Hernandez 6 IP 1 H 2 BB 0 ER 9 Ks ERA down to 3.56
  7. Houston has some very key players on the DL. They will all be back by September. The Yanks struggle against the Astros' starters not really ours.
  8. Kind of a let down for the season, right? Some had high expectations for Travis this year. To me, Ockimey has passed him.
  9. Agreed. I still think he ends up at 1B sooner than many think.
  10. If Bogey can hit like he did at the start of the season (before his injury), our line-up will be unstoppable. Nice to see JBJ continue his rise (up to .698 now). Johnson settled down. The pen finally went all zeroes.
  11. This isn't the NHL.
  12. Yes. The Sox are way ahead of pace to reach their best record ever. The Yanks are very tough and still have the second best record in MLB. The Astros are the defending champs and have the 3rd best record in MLB. The A's are the hottest team over the past 2-3 months. They have the 4th best record in MLB. Even the Mariners have more wins than any NL team (tied at 70 with the Cubs). The Guardians would be in 1st place in 2 of the NL divisions. The top 6 AL teams are very strong. We have 6 of the top 7 teams in MLB. I think the Rays, Twins and Angels would have much better records, if they played in the NL.
  13. The Astros will be getting key players back from the DL before October rolls around. I fear them and their starters more than any other team (on paper).
  14. He'll go on the DL any second, now.
  15. Devers to the DL. Kinsler activated.
  16. I'm hoping the A's sweep the 'Stros.
  17. You mean acquire him in the off season to play 3B next year? Where would he play in the off season? (LOL- just razzin' you!)
  18. Tommy Harper is the reason I am a Sox fan. I lived in the shadow of County Stadium in Milwaukee Wisconsin back in the last 60's to 1970. The Seattle Pilots moved to Milwaukee, and I used to pay a dollar to watch some games from the bleacher. (Imagine, I sometimes went alone as a 5th grader!) Tommy was easily the most exciting player to watch, and he quickly became my favorite player. He was something like the 3rd player ever to hit 30 HRs and steal 30 bases in the same season. We moved from Milwaukee to Portland, ME in the summer of 1971. In the fall of 1971, he was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers with Patrick Skrable, Lew Krausse and Marty Pattin to the Boston Red Sox for Ken Brett, Billy Conigliaro, Joe Lahoud, Jim Lonborg, Don Pavletich and George Scott. I switched to the Red Sox that winter and started as a Sox fan in 1972. The rest is history. (I thought the Brewers were going to win it all (before the Sox) in 1982 vs the Cards. A guy I bet even paid me my "winnings", only to see the cards bounce back from down 3 games to 2 after a bad call.)
  19. I agree, but adding Harper mean we almost surely lose two (JD & Sale).
  20. Well said. I don't look at WAR first. I don't think anyone here feels it is the be all- end all. Harmony uses it more than anybody, and he's not even a Sox fan.
  21. Keeping JD, Sale and Betts far outweigh the addition of Harper. If we get Harper, we are sure to lose one (or another one).
  22. They might get more RBIs, but that's not really "protection" related.
  23. Time to start a new winning streak!
  24. Phillips & Castillo with 3 hits each. Travis & DeJesus (HR) with 2 each. Workman with 2Ks and 0H/0BB in 1 IP. Josh Smith with 7 IP 1 ER and 2 Hits. Denyi Reyes 7 IP 2 ER, 4 H & 0 BB.
  25. Makes ours look like the Yankees...
