  1. If we paid all but $500K of Nunez's deal, we could probably trade him for a long shot single A prospect. Pearce will not be back in time for the deadline, so he's got no time to prove any trade stock value.
  2. A lot of the greatest pitchers end up having to reinvent themselves after they can no longer just blow people away with a 98 mph, well located fastball. Price did. I'm hoping it doesn't take Sale long to find the way. Sale just turned 30 a few months back. That is not a normal age to decline steeply to retirement. Coincidentally, Price struggled a little bit at age 30 and then improved- not to age 26-29 levels but better than age 30. Don't get me wrong, I'm very concerned. I'm just trying to stay optimistic- maybe not for this year, but beyond. He's still got a 94-95 mph fastball, so I thin there is still hope.
  3. Next up, trade out-of-options Johnson plus a far-away prospect for a prospect with options. Then, try to dump Nunez and/or Pearce plus cash to free up a tiny bit of money. Maybe find a RP'er for something similar to what we gave up for Cashner. Do it soon, and if we're not in the race in 2 weeks, consider blowing it all up.
  4. I'd send Walden down, but Velazquez could use some work. Off the 40 man? There's 5-6 guys I could care less about... that's how bad our depth is.
  5. I told you guys decent pitchers could be acquired without trading top prospects, and that this is a buyer's market.
  6. He's retiring with Pedey and both will give all their money back.
  7. Not really. My point was always that our starters had sucked more than our pen (until recently), but I always felt they'd get it together going forward.
  8. Nah, he's doing fine since since May 1st. (I couldn't resist.)
  9. What a crappy swing HR. Tell me the ball is not juiced!
  10. He's got a pretty nasty breaking ball, too.
  11. Good thing he doesn't have to run to 1B on a BB.
  12. The umps suck, but we have to stop bitching at them. The bitching may be what's making them screw us over.
  13. 19 starts for Sale 5 starts with 5 or more runs, including his last 3 starts. 10 starts with 4 or more let up (counting unearned runs) 5 starts with 7 or more IP'd. 18 starts for Porcello 5 starts with 5 or more runs allowed, including last 3. 9 starts with 4 or more runs allowed, including unearned. 3 starts with 7 or more IP 19 starts for ERod 5 starts with 5 or more runs allowed 9 starts with 4+ runs allowed- counting unearned. 4 starts with 7 or more IP.
  14. The pen won't matter, if we keep getting starts like this from our "big 4."
  15. They may still sell, even if they are in it by the deadline.
