  1. LD% 17.6% Leon (career 20.9%) 23.6% LeMahieu (career 23.8%) HR/FB 10% Leon (career 8.1%) 20.0% LeMahieu (career 9.2%) Interesting to see both LD%s down. However... Hard Hit Balls: 23.9% Leon (26.1 career) 40.9% LeMahieu (31.6 career)
  2. I would think he was tradable, so if we don't want him, offer arb and trade him or trade him before the arb is offered.
  3. Chuckle.
  4. Maybe play him in emergency situations, yes. You are right, though, DD was the guy who made the final call to put him on the 25, and if Cora said no, who knows...
  5. Agreed, but playing them is on Cora. Marco, JBJ and Travis are all better choices... maybe even Dalbec, Chatham & Ockimey. We have about 15-20 guys on the 40 man roster that wouldn't be missed by trading or DFA'ing. Why not add a few guys that will have to be added as rule 5 anyways and see what they have, instead of those two clowns?
  6. I doubt he makes much in arb,so I think we keep him. I wouldn't be shocked or hurt, if we non tendered him. My guess is a guy like him would cost more as a FA, so we keep him.
  7. His OBP of .353 more than makes up for his low BA. His .811 OPS and being over .900 vs RHPs two years straight makes him a possible platoon 1B/DH type going forward. Possible- maybe not likely.
  8. Yes, as far back as 2012. His career OPS vs LHPs is .615 (although .673 in 2018 in 150+ PAs). Not better than JBJ (.668 career v L).
  9. Grouping the current 40 Man Roster: Vets under contract after this year: Price Sale JD (player opt outs) Bogaerts Eovaldi Vaz Arbs: Keepers- Betts (1 more arb) ERod (2) Beni (3) Workman (1) Barnes (2) Hembree (2) Maybe- JBJ (1) Wright (1) Pre-arb: Devers Marco Walden DHernandez Taylor Chavis Travis Weber Kelley Likely Non-Tender (due for arb)- Leon Owings Probable Deadwood Vets: Pedroia Borderline 40 Man Roster Materiial (Trade, DFA?): Shawaryn (pre arb) Brewer (pre arb) Lin (pre arb) Reyes (pre arb) Poyner (pre arb) Johnson (pre-arb-out of options) Velazquez (pre-arb) Lakins (pre-arb) Smith (pre arb) Centeno (pre arb) G Hernandez (pre arb) Free Agents: Porcello Moreland Pearce Holt Cashner Red= would not be missed. That's over half the roster. Rule 5 or prospects additions: Dalbec, Chatham, Ockimey, Houck and maybe 1-2 more. I count about 23-25 worth keeping around. If you look to 2021 and beyond, it's maybe 20 tops.
  10. I did this a few weeks ago. I can't remember how many players were sure keepers, but it wasn't many. There are 6-8 guys that have absolutely no business being on the roster, today.
  11. What I want to know is how they switch the balls whenever the Sox are at bat? Follow up, is Tom Brady involved?
  12. That's how I see it. We couldn't win one game vs the Yanks and Rays, and now we have to go 5-2 or 6-1 vs the Yanks and Twins?
  13. I've been suggesting throwing Johnson into trades for half a decade or so. You're right, "It hardly matters," and since he's out of options, it's probably time to move him somewhere else.
  14. .941 OPS vs LHPs at AAA this year in 105 ABs. (Ockimey has been over .900 two years in a row vs RHPs, so why isn't he playing?)
  15. DD went out and got Pearce, last year, so he could sit Moreland vs LHPs, despite him having "some big games" vs lefty starters. How did WTF handle that one? Look, I agree on not playing Gorkys over JBJ vs a LH'd starter, but we've sat JBJ vs many lefties all year and through the years... sometimes so guys like Travis can play.
  16. I've always said they must put something in their clubhouse water fountain. Look at Urshela's history before this year.
  17. It's no. No. No I'll walk.
  18. Bringing up prospects is something even teams in the hunt do, especially to deepen their pen. I'd bring up Dalbec, Chatham, Duran, Ockimey, Centeno and a few pitchers no matter where we are in the standings. Playing the guys and when (how often) is what is up for debate. I can see holding off totally playing the kids until after these 7 games, but some players may be better choices than what we have, even if winning is the objective.
  19. Nobody ever came back from 3-0 until we did, but this is even harder.
  20. Yes, but as far as I know, no team has ever passed 2 teams from so far down.
  21. How far behind 2 of the teams were they with 24 to go?
  22. Where ya been? I've been saying it's over for weeks.
  23. There's a hole vs RHPs, so I expect Dalbec or Ockimey to make the 25 man roster next spring. Career L-R Splits (some small sample sizes): vs RHPs: .774 Chavis (271 PAs) .691 Marco .550 Travis (100 PAs) vs LHPs: .796 Travis (149 PAs) .785 Marco .742 Chavis (111 PAs) Minor Leagues 2019: vs RHPs: .901 Ockimey (355) and .924 in 2018 (336 PAs) .785 Dalbec (418) BUT .944 in 2018 (401 PAs) .728 Travis vs LHPs: .955 Travis .928 Dalbec (140) and .849 in 2018 (142) .539 Ockimey (109) and .564 in 2018 (145) Ockimey kills righties!! I'd add him to the 40 man and call him up.
  24. Yes, I gave up after the two sweeps. My guess is, if we get to the point, again, where we have to win, we will come up short- just like then. I hope I am wrong, but I just don't see it happening this year. This team lets us down time and time again, then teases us with semi-competitiveness, then lets us down again. It could change. We could get hot like we did a couple times last year, but I'll believe it when I see it. If we come back to make the playoffs, I fully expect to be crucified by you guys and would deserve it. As for playing Travis vs LHPs. I'd play him over Moreland vs LHPs, even if I felt we were still in it. Moreland is at .455 vs lefties this year and under .700 career. We can always PH Moreland once a RH'er comes in, and Moreland has done great as a PH'er. Tinkering gets the best on the field- not the opposite. Moreland was platooned last year, and we won. Moreland as a PH'er: 1.167
