  1. Evolution is NOT the only way players can get better from one era to another. Your speculations are spoken like they are facts, and with all due respect, I find myself disagreeing with just about everything you post. Maybe part of it is because how you present opinions as facts.
  2. Interesting, we have the same record as the Cubs who are 3.5 up in the NL wild card race,
  3. I'm not attempting to lead anyone anywhere. We have to pass 2 teams by gaining 6 on both. I'm fine with people thinking that will happen, and I can understand their faith. I've often been the last one believing over the years. I want to see the Yanks lose. Of course, they will be favored over the A's, if they play them, but I like the A's chances better than TB or CLE in the first round. That's all my post was about. I wasn't the one who brought up the fact that for the A's to beat the Yanks, we'd have to be eliminated.
  4. The Red Sox have signed free-agent right-hander Jhoulys Chacin to a minor-league deal, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. Many expected Chacin to sign on with the Red Sox, who expressed interest in the ex-Brewer after he threw a bullpen session in front of Red Sox brass. We're back in the race, guys!!!
  5. 1. Betts (CF) 2. Devers (3B) 3. Bogey (SS) 4. JD (RF) 5. Travis (DH) 6. Beni (LF) 7. Vaz (1B) 8. Holt (2B) 9. Leon ©
  6. 1) We're out of it already. 2) The Astros may end up with the best record and face the wild card winner. 3) The A's have a better chance of beating NY than CLE or MN. Once the Sox are out, it's all about the Yanks losing.
  7. I'm hoping the Yanks have to face the A's first round. Anybody but the Twinkies.
  8. They took the lefty out after 5 and played 9 more innings- No JBJ.
  9. Yup, just like I did the second best, the third best...
  10. More impressive was DHern going 2 IP without a walk. Our staff K'd 20 last night!
  11. Just watched the rest of the game. I hated seeing Workman almost lose the game for us. He's been a bright spot, this year. Mookie seems to be returning to near 2018 form. I guess JBJ's warming back up necessitated his sitting out last night. He was at 1.039 over his last 12 games with 5 dingers. If the guy could just play D, we could play him more. He's had 6 days off in the last 18-- must be tired at 29.
  12. Think of how many pre-arb players there are. If you doubled their salaries, it would be a drop in the bucket for owners but would probably get a big chunk of the players to vote yes on any contract. Shorten the arb year by one, and they'd probably have a deal, even if they screwed the players everywhere else. Management did this at a company I worked for. The lower tiered workers outnumbered the higher tier, so the contract offered dramatically shortened the time it took to get to top tier, thereby giving massive raises to the lower paid workers, while they added nothing to the top tier and did away with the company retirement plan. It barely passed because all the lower guys voted for the big one time raise that screwed their longterm future.
  13. My Domers may surprise, this year, but I doubt they have the horses to come close to winning it all.
  14. The owners would be smart to vastly raise the pay of players before they become free agents. That alone would get a lot of vote for a contract by many players. Even raising minor league min salaries would go over well.
  15. Not only that, they still have very good farms despite winning.
  16. The Rays are a very good team, even with some key guys hurt. I just don't see them losing enough. I hope I'm wrong.
  17. LOL I don't have access to that sort of thing and wouldn't know where to look.
  18. Wow, if we can sign this guy, I'll be a believer, again.
  19. Yes, they have, and there are ample examples of a team coming back from way down to pass someone, but does anyone know the record for coming X amount of games behind two teams to pass both teams?
  20. Will Betts make it over .900 now that we're out of it?
  21. He's only got a little over 200 PAs, this season. He is playing well, though. So, bench the .321 hitting Marco?
  22. We'll have to be extremely lucky to catch just one team.
  23. Yeah, that's like asking the oil companies to stop making money and save the climate.
