  1. Okay, I guess it's just my opinion. Sucking is one thing. Sucking and having multiple years left at mega bucks is another... and worse!
  2. Agreed. His IFA plan was to have no plan. The one that died was supposed to be real good, though. That used to be our strength. To me, DD is gone more for the farm than for missing the playoffs one time. (That or the being an A-hole part that is being reported now.)
  3. If we trade Betts, we might as well trade everyone you mentioned. I'm not against that plan, especially, if we try to sign Betts after 2021. Talk to him. Do him a "favor" by trading him on the second day of the season to knock off the QO and penalty attached. Maybe, he'll remember the favor and return.
  4. You know, after we traded away our whole rotation, I used the words "halfway" in my opinion. They traded Lester, Lackey, Doubront, Peavy & Miller not really for prospects, but for ML players or near ML ready players. I thought they should have gone for top prospects. We won in 2013. There are more ways to win that just the "Yankee Model," and besides, the Yanks have not won jack since their big fire sale.
  5. I forgot that one. How about those two Hrs hit from the on deck circle?
  6. Sale is second in xFIP this season.
  7. The ones that bug me are the HRs where the batter hits it and looks disgusted that he "got under it," and yet it goes out. One handed HRs. Broken bat HRs. On one knee HRs.
  8. I'd love that and wanted that with Lester and Andrew Miller, but it may be a long shot. If we do trade Betts with the idea of spending big in 2021 and getting competitive again really quick, then we might as well trade a bunch of other players, too. Even ones we may re-sign in 2021 or 2022.
  9. Arbs next year: Betts 3rd of 3 JBJ 4 of 4 ERod 3 of 4 Leon 4 of 4 (non tender) Barnes 2 of 3 Wright 3 of 3 (non tender?) Hembree 2 of 3 (non tender or trade?) Workman 3 of 3 Beni 1 of 3 Marco 1 of 3 Weber 1 of 3 J Smith, Gorkys & Centeno (non tenders) That $56M will likely be all gone, even without JBJ. There may be $2-6M left over.
  10. Yes, but I think we wanted to keep AGon, despite his role in "chicken gate". We could trade Betts and Price to the Dodgers or Mets for...
  11. I missed the best one! That pretty much sums it up, right?
  12. If we reset, and more and more people are starting to think 2020 will be the year, then we need to decide between 2 choices: 1) Extend or sign Betts as part of the long term rebuild. 2) Trade this winter for young and near MLB talent as part of a 2-3 year rebuild plan. If the answer is #2, then others should be dealt, too. Everyone not under team control of in our long term plans beyond 2021 or 2022. (Basically, only Devers, Bogey and Beni would be lock keepers, not counting kids like DHern.)
  13. The worst is: keep, don't sign and just get a comp pick.
  14. Their salaries and projected value per dollar going forward is tied to your statement.
  15. Several of us batted both eyes when the farm was emptied. I was fine with the idea as long as we won a ring, and we did. However, I knew this day was coming.
  16. That's how I see it, and that's what I used as my main reason for saying I wanted DD replaced this winter.
  17. The Dodger dump trade was the second time. 2 times in 10 years is not a fluke.
  18. We packaged AGon with CC and Beckett and won a ring with the money saved (Victorino & Napoli signings).
  19. If the rebuild is a 3 or more year plan, yes. I'm not sure Henry will allow 3 years, unless he severely cuts the budget by having a fire sale.
  20. If chicks dig the long ball, there must be a lot more women fans this year.
  21. In all fairness, he's drafted very low due to winning the division 3 times in a row. He's had some top picks and IFA signing get hurt or even die. That being said, GMs are judged by hindsight- righly or wrongly, and our farm is ranked last. We used to do great with IFA, but the bonus pool money has hurt. That's not an excuse, because other winning GMs have found gems. DD's drafts: 2016: 12th Groome- injured 51st Chatham- jury out- looking okay. 88th Shaun Anderson- traded for Nunez 118th- Dalbec- solid pick at that number. 1148th Shawaryn- meh. 2017 (lower picks begin) 24. Houck- jury out 63, Brannen- ugh 101. Netzer- ugh 131. Thompson- Ugh 161 Scherff- ugh 2018 26. Casas- Good 64 Decker- too early 100 Feltman- too early 130 Cottam- too early 160- T Ward- looking nice 190- Granberg- too early 2019 (DD's fault we were kocked down 10 slots) 43 Cannon 69 M Lugo 107 Zeferjahn 137 N Song 167 Groshans (All too early) Our past IFA signings include, HRam (who brought us Beckett & Lowell), Doubront, Okajima, Dice-K, Tazawa, Bogey, Montas, Iggy, Lin, Margot, Bautista, Devers, DHern, Moncada & Castillo. Since 2016: Velazquez, Danny Diaz, Daniel Flores (died), A Flores, Eduardo Lopez & Juan Chacon.
  22. I like "Geeks". Any ideas for the mascot or team logo?
  23. I agree. We may hold onto Price and Eovaldi, in hopes they show health and progress, then trade them. Sale, maybe the same. We could even trade JD, and if we have to pay part of his salary, it won't be as much as the 3 pitchers would be. We keep Devers, Bogey, beni, vaz & ERod. All others could be offered, if the rebuild will be full.
  24. Keon Broxton was waived this year. He hit .469 after the trade. If you think we'll have to give up a lot to trade for him, I can't argue anything more. Funny how his weak hitting is okay with you, but Hamilton's is not. You neglect Dyson who is a FA this year, and had a DWAR of 0.9 and 0.7 the last two years (cumulative stats with less innings than JBJ). He will not get $9-11M at 35 years old. He is as good a defender as JBJ. Billy Hamilton was waived this year. You think he'll make big bucks this winter? His mutual option hasd a $1M buy out. No way the Braves pay him $7.5M, but keep believing they will, so you can make your point. Hamilton's career OPS: .623. He turned 29 today. Dyson's career OPS is .660. He turned 35 just a few days ago. Leony's Martin does have a -0.3 dWAR this year, but it was 1.3 last year, which is almost as much as JBJ's 2018+2019 dWAR. He's a career .668 hitter and turns 32 in March. He was released by the Guardians this year. Okay, maybe Lagares won't be available, but here are 3 guys with an OPS between 50-100 lower than JBJ. All are equal or better fielders. All cost way, way less. We aren't winning. next year, so why care about a 75 point drop in CF OPS- maybe? JBJ's career OPS is .725, and he turns 30 next April.
