  1. With this rotation, the Yanks should go with a 4 man OF.
  2. We are going to stick with Porcello & Cashner. I think we trade for one solid RP'er without giving up a top near ML ready prospect. (Yes, it can be done. Look want we got Cashner for.)
  3. I tried to warn you last March.
  4. 8 down to the Yanks. 4 down to the Guardians for the 1st WC slot. 0.5 up on TBR & OAK on the 2nd slot. Sweep the Skanks and call it a nice weekend!
  5. He must have been red hot before the last 10 games to still be over .800 for July.
  6. Man o man, Devers is the man. Just got caught up live. ERod comes through again. Beni, JD, just about everyone coming through, again. Now, Eovaldi could help us all feel a lot better by getting out of this mess.
  7. I would think you are probably right. The more "into it" a fan is, like the ones that might post on these forums, is more likely to be into more stats and metrics, but I do think a lot of casual and traditional fans are interested and understanding of more stats and metrics than we might believe.
  8. Don't ask/force Sox fans to look up the history of Yankee championships by decades. I still think the cost on starters will drop as the deadline nears. Cashner was cheap. We may also be surprised at how many teams still "in it" may trade a SP'er (like CLE, SFG, PIT...).
  9. With Moreland and Pearce moving on after this year, and Chavis showing he is not horrific at 2B, we may hold onto Dalbec as a possible cheap solution to the 2020 and beyond 1B issue. We showed we can get Cashner, Eovaldi (last year) and Reed (2 years ago) without giving up our best and nearest ML ready prospects. I think DD will do the same this summer. Dalbec will not be traded.
  10. I think OBP and OPS have moved up into the list of the "average fan" interests.
  11. I thought of the same thing while watching the game last night. I've thought, all along, that the Yanks would have a rough patch at some point, despite getting several players back off the IL. This is a great time for that to start, but there are still many games to be played. Yes, "stay tuned" to this developing story. Things are also looking better for the 2nd WC slot, as Oakland is starting to struggle a little bit. Next up: CLE needs to slump. We are 9 down on the Yanks. We are 4 down on CLE for the top WC slot. We are 0.5 down on TB for the last WC slot (tied in loss column.) We are tied with OAK for that slot.
  12. How many HRs? If he's over .800 for July, my guess is he is not at .116 the last 3 weeks.
  13. Key word is "can." I've always liked Barnes, but I'm not so sure he bounces back. Walden has had a short comeback after a tough stretch, but I don't see him as a guy I want in the 7th or 8th inning of a playoff game. Hembree was doing well before the injury and looks awful, now. Brewer was doing okay for a stretch, but not now. Last 28 days (listed by most IP): 2.13 Taylor (12.2 IP) Looking great, but would anyone be surprised, if he implodes? 3.72 Workman (9.2) Our most consistently good RP'er all year, but is largely a surprise. 5.79 Brewer (9.1) Not my idea of a solid RP'er. 9.00 Walden (7.0) Has made an improvement, of late. 10.29 Brasier (7.0) Not even doing well at AAA. 4.50 Barnes (6.0) Something going on with Matt. 9.00 Hembree (6.0) Not good since return. 0.00 Hernandez (4.) Needs a larger sample size to convince me he is "solid."
  14. Is Andrew Cashner a "solid" SP'er? What did he cost? I'm not talking Wil Smith.
  15. Nope: we need one solid RP'er without question. I'd look for a Cashner-type deal but for a RP'er. My own opinion is that I'd get a second RP'er, too... maybe a lefty. (I'd trade Johnson, who is out of options, but I guess we may go with him in the pen, soon.)
  16. Marco went 3-4 with a 2B. Owings is red hot (2-4 with 9th HR B Johnson 4 IP 0 ER 3 H 5BB AA Dalbec hit his 20th. Jack says he's slumping at .820+ this month. Kent 6 IP 1 ER 6H 3BB A Scherff 6IP 2 ER 9H 2BB Corcino 3-4 (9th HR and 4 rbi) Castellanos 2-5
  17. I've been saying all along we should trade for 2 solid (not costly) RP'ers no matter how well Eovaldi is doing.
  18. I totally agree, but using your measuring stick for this game, they have done better than the starters game by game with game ERA.
  19. Many more games than not, our pen had a better game ERA than the starter.
  20. Barnes has sucked this year. Walden was good early. It's Workman and ..... (Eovaldi?)
  21. He was pitching well before the injury. I'm cutting him a little slack, but not for much longer.
