  1. I thought, for sure, Devers would get the day off, after all, 6 hits is so tiring!
  2. DRS -1 Devers -5 Usuala
  3. Most of the hits were rocket shots. Very hard hit. He's "in the zone." My guess is he sits today. (Just kidding.)
  4. Things change in baseball everyday- sometimes in minutes. We don't know the whole story.
  5. They should have started limiting him to 80-85 pitches after the sweeps.
  6. The less wins the better draft pick. I'm not for trying to lose games, but let the kids play and see what happens.
  7. Devers became the first MLB player ever to get 6 Hits and 4 Doubles in the same game! Sale became the quickest player to reach 2,000 K's, but he's toast- according to Jacko.
  8. Thanks for this heart felt statement. Well said.
  9. Not in any particular order: Billy Hamilton: He has a $7.5M option with KC and has a .544 OPS in 2019. It was .631 before this year, career. He's a much worse hitter than JBJ, but his D is excellent. Jarrod Dyson: FA from AZ (.706 OPS in 2019- almost identical to JBJ's. Is at .668 career.) Manuel Margot: Could trade for the CF'er who was demoted this year. (This was discussed on another thread, and I think there were 3-4 other names of interest.)
  10. In our flower garden in Texas.
  11. Thanks, slash. He was the best dog anyone ever had. (I know everyone thinks that about their dog, but this was for real.) Again, thanks.
  12. It's looks better on paper than reality, although we are second in runs scores, so it's still excellent. Marco was sent to the minors. His sample size is small. Chavis is under .700 after his frist 14 games. JBJ is hovering around .700, with just about all his hits within a 6 week period.
  13. I don't mean to bring anyone down, but I wanted to share some bad news. We had to put our 19 years old Shepherd-Yellow Lab mix named Kaleb down this morning. He lived a long and love- filled life- both giving and receiving. He's been with me from the deep woods of Maine, to a tiny apartment in Mexico City and here to Sugar Land, Texas. Peace, my friend.
  14. I suspected you'd answer this way. I respect your love of defense. I'm with you all the way on that. I do think there are several fantastic defensive CF'ers in MLB these days. Some hit worse than JBJ, but if they can field like him and cost a small fraction of what he will cost, I'm on board with moving on. I'll miss JBJ, as he was may favorite player since before his call-up. I would make sure we got a great defensive CF'er before deciding on non tendering or trading JBJ. He and Betts remind me of the Dewey & Lynn years.
  15. Like I said, I'm okay with saying "good". There were only 3 categories: good, bad and ugly. If there was a great and good/decent category, I'd place him in good/decent with JD.
  16. Are you okay with us letting JBJ go and replacing him with an equally good defender? How about slightly worse on defense but $5-7M cheaper?
  17. 2018: RISP 1.151 (.386 BA/.480 OBP) 13 HRs & 90 rbi in 200PAs 2019: RISP: .947 (.304 BA/.420 OBP) 5 Hrs & 40 rbi in 138 PAs I know calling a hitter with an OPS over .940 "bad" sounds bad, but he did not meet my expectations. I'm fine with moving him to "Good:.
  18. It doesn't matter. The Sox set a price on their own free agents to be and rarely stray from that number. It has been one of the organization's strongest area of player valuation. They rarely make mistakes on when to keep or let go their own players. It might not matter, if they think they can sign him or not, they may still want to trade him and then submit their bid when the time comes.
  19. I'm still confident the Sale signing will work out well. It's not like he's old.
  20. JD got up with a lot of men on base, this year.
  21. The only two who come close were JD Drew & Price.
  22. I expected age progression growth. His defense got worse. He's hot right now, but he didn't help much when we were still in it. (I clearly stated "Bad" could be just not meeting expectations.)
  23. Another idea might be to try and replicate the AGon, CC & Beckett deal. Trade Betts with a sunken contract or two for scraps and start over. Betts, Price and Rusney for a couple decent prospects. The problem is, the Dodgers won't be fooled again. Would anyone else?
  24. Certainly pitching would be a big part of going all out in 2021 but maybe 2 good ones- not great. I'm not that worried about Sale's age. Price- yes. ERod is on board for 2021 and maybe Eovaldi will be healthy.
  25. Yes, ERod is a "nibbler," but he has some of the nastiest stuff on the staff. He's also improved on his IP'd, slightly. Trading ERod only makes sense, if we are looking for a 2-3 year rebuild, not the one year plan I'm thinking might be possible (reset in 2020). I love Workman, but he's a FA after 2021. He has trade value, too. If we plan to be highly competitive by 2021, he'll have 1 year in the next window. Barnes has seen his stock fall. I'd keep him, in hopes he improves and can help in 2021 or be traded next July. Hembree's stock is low, too. I keep thinking we'll see his upside, and maybe we started to this year, but who knows. I would not trade him for scars, unless it puts us under the tax line.
