  1. I wouldn't put it that way. 1) I realize I do not know everything, and Cora has access to more info than I. 2) I'll never fully agree with anyone, and don't need to do so to "fully believe" in a baseball manager. 3) I may be the only poster who believes Cora is the best we ever had, so if I don't fully believe, I can probably still claim I "believe" in him more than anyone else here.
  2. This year, maybe only Trout is better.
  3. I still think Cora is the best Sox manager ever, but I dislike many of the choices of rest days, especially right after a struggling player has had a big game or two, or it is a key game vs a key opp.
  4. I agree100%. The non cliff dwellers wil have an out. They will be able to claim there would never have been a cliff had Sale never got hurt.
  5. Yes, chances are, if Sale needs TJ, he'd probably have hurt it next April had we sat him when I suggested it. Probably. I still think Sox management knows something us physically wrong with Price. They have babied him all year. If that is true, sitting him now still makes sense, unless he is over the injury and needs to build back up arm strength. This recent IL stint hints at a continuing issue, but I do not know for sure. I doubt he'll be any better next year because he pitches in September.
  6. I finally understood one of your posts. Your turn! 😳
  7. Had we not extended Sale, and he pitched well this year, but we lost him to free agency, we'd be hearing Lester comps left and right.
  8. I wanted Farrel gone too, and I think the overuse of rest has gone too far, but when that philosophy works we call our managers geniuses.
  9. I hate to watch us lose, too, but it's worse, for me, if the losing has no purposeful meaning going forward. When your team sucks, playing deadwood makes little sense, unless you are thinking of re-signing the guy(s). I don't enjoy watching deadwood win over promising kids lose, and our deadwood, for the most part, are not winning. Plus, going all out to win when you have no chance risks injury to key players. I caught a lot of grief for saying, 2 weeks ago, we should shut down Sale & Price. Now, both are on the IL. I hope the fans are happy, now. They got to see them pitch instead of a kid and got their money's worth for one game.
  10. Exactly. And, if Sale had won theCy young this year, we couldn't have afforded him. Let's not forget most felt he. Signed for less money and years had he been a FA last winter. In hindsight, it looks like a big mistake and kudos to those coming out of the word work saying "I told you so". You guesses right on this one. Every big signing is a big risk. We got this one wrong. We need to get over it, move on, reset and shoot for a return to glory as quickly as possible- hopefully by including some serious farm rebuilding in the plans. Thank you DD but good bye.
  11. I realize why my plan won't happen and don't expect others to feel like I do, but I would, as a fan too, enjoy watching more kids play instead of deadwood players most of whom have been sucking anyways. Is any fan really going to be bummed they went to a game where VelaQuez started instead of Caahner?
  12. That was kind of my point.
  13. This news sucks more than the current standings.
  14. 4 games in row is easier than 20
  15. Seems like Farrell did the same thing.
  16. Yes, and a higher BAbip that is fueled by hitting the ball hard so much is easier to sustain.
  17. I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. Me, I wanna see more of some guys that might be part of next year's plan. I'm not expecting or trying to convince people to more like me, but maybe just to understand my view.
  18. If you were talking about me, all I said was that it is not unreasonable to expect him to have 1-2 similar seasons at some point, not necessarily in 2019. I still believe that. Most players who have seasons like that have another similar one.
  19. I might start believing if we can just win 9 out of 10, but it ain't happening.
  20. I wouldn't say we "need" more HRs, but I think he will hit more as he ages. As for the BA, I'm not sure that will dip from his career number now. The guy hits the ball hard and it doesn't seem to matter how he is pitched to.
  21. I'd do the same, if Price and Sale were our , except I'd bring up Shawaryn or someone who can go 5 innings. I'd like to be more sure about Shawaryn before this winter. He still could like Beeks.
  22. Normally, I'm the last to pack it in, but I just see no way we play .750, and even that may not be enough.
  23. I forgot Price is out. I'd go back to 13 pitchers by replacing Moreland with a pitcher. 3 Johnson 4 Velazquez 5 pen game maybe started by DHerm or Weber
  24. Johnson can start over Porcello or Casner not Shawaryn and Houck. I mentioned those two as roster replacements not rotation replacements. Velazquez looked good last year and has a better chance at being on the roster next year than RP and A C.
