  1. I don't get the fascination with BA. OBP and SLG are so much more telling- not that JBJ's OBP is all that great, but it is decent enough to support his fantastic defense. He also has decent power. While JBJ has only gone over .250 once (.267 in 2016) and came close once or twice (.249 and .245), he's had pretty good OBPs several times: .349 in 2016 .335 in 2015 .323 in 2017 .320 this year He doesn't ground into DPs very often (11 in his last 1040+ PAs). 2015 to 2019 numbers per 650 PAs .244 23 80 (40 2B+3B and 12 SB) .328 OBP .436 SLG .764 OPS
  2. I went back and did a study of every player that had a 7+ WAR year, and most had another one or one very close to it.

  4. Not only Undefeated, but unscored upon! Also, an interesting factoid: IP since 2016 746 Sale 644 Kershaw Since 2017 520 Sale 495 Kershaw Since 2018 320 Kershaw 305 Sale
  5. Sale is undefeated when we score more runs than the other teams.
  6. Moncada (Sale) Margot (Kimbrel) Kopech (Sale) Espinoza (Pom) Allen (Kimbrel) Dubon (with Travis Shaw for Thornburg) Buttrey (Kinsler) Beeks (Eovaldi) Basabe (Sale) Basabe (Thornburg) Shaun Anderson (Nunez) Bautista, Nogosek & Callahan (Addison Reed) Guerra & Asuaje (Kimbrel) Rijo & Wilkerson (A Hill) Espinal (Pearce) Most are small or tiny sample sizes, but it's amazing how many have made it to the bigs: Moncada 1397 PAs .780 OPS (.888 this season in 496) Margot 1484 PAs .705 OPS (.727 this season in 399) Kopech 14 IP 5.02 (AAA in '18 126 IP 3.70 ERA/ 2.88 in '17) Espinoza (A in '16: 108 IP 4.49) Allen 28 IP 6.18 ERA Dubon 47 PAs .765 OPS Buttrey 82 IP 3.86 ERA Beeks 151 IP 4.82 ERA (4.47 after BOS) Anderson 91 IP 5.14 ERA Callahan 7 IP 4.05 Bautista 13 IP 11.48 ERA Nogosek 7 IP 10.80 ERA Guerra 19 PAs .388 OPS (464 PAs/.666 in AAA '18) Asuage 520 PAs .641 OPS Wilkerson 35 IP 6.88 ERA Espinal (521 PA in AAA/AA at .740 in '19) Basabe (AA 561 PAs .695 OPS) Basabe (A+ 500 PAs .792) OPS Did I forget anybody?
  7. Now, that's some speculating!
  8. That's right. He wanted them to exercise the 2 option years, and they said no. He pouted. They released confidential medical reports, and the whole thing blew up.
  9. Yes, but the idea was we'd have Eovaldi and Pearce all year- not just 1/3. We also had Brasier and Workman starting out the season on the 25 man roster. Many felt that might be enough to bridge us to a deal at the deadline for a closer.
  10. I think Manny's deal ran out after the rules changed for the worse, and I'm not sure what pick the Dodgers ended up getting, if any.
  11. You forgot the Margot & Beeks in MLB column.
  12. Progressive= robo umps & launch angles, no?
  13. We also got Workman as compensation for losing JBay.
  14. Yes, of course. Pom gave us one very good year in 2017 sandwiched around a pretty poor half season in 2016 and a pretty bad 2018 season. Calling it a win, now is probably right, but the hindsight court is still gathering evidence (on Espi) before the verdict is final.
  15. I really wanted Quintana, too, but he has not done all that well since leaving Chicago. Could we have gotten both by adding Espi, Dubon, Shaw and Basabe?
  16. Did it? Pom certainly did well for some of the time here, but he was not ever a big part of us winning a ring. We don't know what Espi will do- post surgeries. Plus, my point was never about not trading ESpi, it was about making more trades like Sale and not Pom, Thornburg and Kimbrel.
  17. This off season? I'm not so sure, but certainly it could very well happen. A lot depends on who is our next GM and what direction is chosen.
  18. We have almost the same record as the Cubs, this year. Not that it means much.
  19. Some things bugged me about Tito, but I was very supportive and praised him way more than criticizing him. At the end, I turned, but I was no where near the first. (BTW, I was the last to turn on Booby V.- something I'm not proud of. I turned on Farrell maybe earlier than most.
  20. How about XBHs: 83 Devers 81 Bogey 73 Betts 70 JD 57 Beni TBs 328 Devers 313 Bogey 304 JD 302 Betts 226 Beni 202 Vaz 181 JBJ 154 Chavis (382 PAs) 123 Moreland (286 PAs)
  21. Am I going to be left with stretch marks?!?!
  22. Good to know, but my guess is you'' feel the same about Chacin after his next start or the one after.
  23. Yes, and I'm not counting what managers did before or after Boston, so Williams is 3rd in my book. Yes, Cora makes mistakes and so did Tito and every manager.
  24. How about 2B+3B? 54 Devers 50 Bogey 45 Betts 44 Beni 35 JD
  25. Still glad we let Buch walk.
