No more than others, or maybe a little more. Mostly players- not so much GMs and managers. You missed the biggest smear: when they talked about Manny forgetting which knee was injured.

If those are smears, I'm laughing out loud. Plus, when Manny pushed the guy down, it wasn't Sox management that reported it.

Well, I had just said I liked DD, and I don't see those criticizing him saying anything close to that, so I felt your point was directed only at me. I liked Ben, and I think they got rid of him just before he was poised to make some deals. I think he got a bad a rap for hoarding prospects, when actually he accumulated many of them. I don't blame the Sox for letting him go after 3 last places in 4 years. I just wish he got one more year. I'm not saying henry is a saint, but after decades of no rings, maybe we needed a bastard to run the team into a championship or two... or 4. My guess is most of the most successful businessmen of all time are not very nice.

We also traded away Kopech & Espinoza and RP'ers like Buttrey.

I could see us getting more innings out of those 3 SP'ers in 2020 than 2019.

I take "falling in love with prospects" to mean you over-value them and would not trade them, because other owners value them less.

Yes, some guys we signed showed injury issues prior to signing them, but only Bogey's is more than 5 years. Sale has 5 left- Eovaldi 3. That might hurt us badly, if they barely pitch, but these aren't 7 year deals.

Didn't you just say we over hype and fall in love with our top prospects? Is trading them all showing "love?" Which one are we?

It's possible to like what someone did, but still have issues with somethings they did. It's not hypocritical at all. I'm glad DD got us a ring, and I knew he sacrificed some of the future to do it. Overall, he did what it took to get the ring. He made sure he got enough horses to get it. I think he went too far, but that doesn't mean I hate the guy, and I certainly have not been constantly berating the guy. My main reason for liking DD's departure is not the state he left the farm in. I don't like ow far he went with prospect trades, but as long as we got the ring it was worth it. My main reason for liking his departure is that we are now (earlier than I had hoped for) entering a rebuilding phase direction, and to me, DD is clearly not the GM for that direction. He was 4 years ago, when we had other goals. He is not now. I don't have to hate a guy to not think he's best for this situation. I'm not lying when I say, "I like DD." I'm not being disingenuous. I love my wife, but we disagree about a few things.

I guess one thing is not rankling your bosses. One could be losing this year while outspending some teams 4 or 5 fold. One could be the condition of the farm. Probably a little of all of the above. To me, I think they saw a rebuild as the best plan for 2020 and beyond, and they didn't think DD is the GM for that. I liked DD. I like Tito. Both left when they had to leave.

I saw the opening game of the season Sox loss in the closer by committee year. I liked the stadium and atmosphere. Nothing special,of course, but a pleasant experience, until the 9th inning.

If we are going to lose him, we should trade him this winter and get full value in return. I was just saying that if we want to sign him after 2020, it might help to do him a favor by trading him during the season, so there is no QO related draft choice lost by signing him. Yes, it would help other teams not us, but Betts might be appreciative of us for doing it. I realize this idea is rather convoluted, and I'm not saying we should do this for that reason. I was basically just thinking out loud.

It won't stop anyone from making huge offers, but I bet teams subtract something for that lost pick.

It should help, some. That draft pick has value. It sure hurt Keuchel and Kimbrel, who are a bit above "middle tier".

Trading Betts at the deadline does him a huge favor. Maybe he'll take that into account when we are bidding for his services nexxt winter.

As much as I love baseball, I rarely watch any games that don't involve the Sox. I watched about 4 innings of the Rays game last night. I hope they win, but I'll probably catch the highlights.

I think we trade JBJ and JD this winter for prospects. (That may get us near your projected 2020 fall ranking projection.) That will likely mean we won't be in the race in July, so my guess is Betts gets traded in July, hopefully with the idea that we make a strong push to sign him that winter. That's my guess. (We may trade Barnes in July, too.)
