  1. KC did hit .799 in Woo for over 300 PAs, so it's not like he slumped out the rest of the season, but his bar was set highly. .911 FCL/A- '23 (age 21) .997 A+/AA/AAA '24 (age 22) Not that age matters much, but he is almost 1.5 years older than Roman and a half year older than the oft-injured Mayer.
  2. For what it matters, I do think he's capable of hitting .800 to .825 for a full season, despite turning the dreaded 30 next March. It's one reason I often pencil him in as our 2026 DH, sometimes platooning with Romy or with the possibly returning REF.
  3. They obviously felt he was more than measly.
  4. Well, you gave your reason several times. Forgive me for taking it as your opinion/belief. Why wasn't he called back up? Many reasons, and I'd be guessing at this one, too. Maybe because Romy was doing great? Maybe because they wanted him to work on a new position and maybe a new approach at the plate and didn't think he made enough progress on either or both? Maybe because they agreed with you that he was never truly ready, and they did not want to risk another mistake? Maybe poor roster construction? Maybe because of Cora's crush on DHam? Maybe all of these- maybe some- maybe none.
  5. "Reverts?" Are you talking in season snippets? .783 in 2023 (.826 on 8-19-23) .765 in 2024 (.825 on 8-19-24) .686 in 2025 (.738 after 8-19-25 but .837 in September '25.)
  6. That showed they cared. I think they had faith in Campbell fixing the problem. I think they liked Kiki at 2B, but SS and CF was a bigger need. They kept Bogey at SS, so Story would be the FT 2Bman, so in a sense they paid $25M to "fix" 2B that year.
  7. Could we see this? 3B: Mayer vs RHPs/ Sogard or Eaton vs LHPs 2B: DHam or Sogard vs RHPs/ Romy vs LHPs. I'm not so sure they worry about Romy's arm at 3B, but playing only 12 innings at 3B, last year, when Breggie missed a lot of time is sort of telling.
  8. It was one of the most talked about trade ideas, last winter. The reasons were obvious, namely Anthony's perceived readiness.
  9. There are differences in nuance, agreed, but saying call some one up implies they feel he is ML ready, right?
  10. Okay. Yes, many were against suggestions to trade Duran and others. I hear it almost every time I suggest a Duran trade.
  11. Again, I wanted Mayer over KC, too. I'm not sure how many times I have to say that. IMO, both may have been ML ready, and one was chosen for various reasons- and maybe not about higher "readiness." When someone says he was rushed and gives no other reasons, even when in a debate about it being a major reason or the most important one, maybe I wrongly assume they think it's the most important reason. "Major" may not mean over 50% of the reason, either, if there are 3 or more reasons being suggested. My point is nobody know the major reasons. We are all hypothesizing, and IMO, more so if we keep giving one reason over and over and not suggesting more easons were or could be involved.
  12. There was a big qualifier on Arias. I also think Arias is a better defensive SS than Mayer and Story, right now, but that is an opinion based on what I read and hear, only.
  13. Yes, I mentioned the crowded OF and service time for some reasons why Anthony was held back, when I feel he was "ready." Mayer could have been chosen to play 2B over Campbell, and he was "ready" in many senses of the word, but IMO, I think they felt he missed too much time at the end of 2024 and needed some more rehab work. He also had issues vs LHPs to work on, so maybe not "fully ready" and service time concerns. I'm not sure how Masa fits into this issue. Playing Anthony at DH was a sign they messed up not trading Duran when his value peaked in 2024. Yes, "roster construction mistake."
  14. Yes, that is the two near opposite things we hear sometimes about prospects and our GM's choices. Is there a point I'm missing by this restatement?
  15. Like he did with SFG, yes.
  16. Agreed. I was not for that trade. I'd also prefer Schwarber at DH, but Masa is here and Cora seems to want to play him.
  17. I said I don't think he's much worse more because I know Casas and Alonso suck on D. not much worse than suck is not a compliment.
  18. Nor I, but I'd be happy if we sign Alonso for $180M/7. Less would be better but not possible. More would be okay, because we need a big power bat, very badly.
  19. If Arias become a legit ML'er, he'll reach that point the year Story's control ends. If he makes it by 2027, Story can play 2B his last year here.
  20. And maybe not Naylor, either.
  21. Well, many felt Mayer and Anthony should have been on the opening day roster, and Mayer was only promoted because of the Bregman injury and Anthony basically took the Devers slot, although he was called up before the trade. They did seem to wait on pitcher promotions, but many of our pitchers that were doing great in the minors never amounted to squat in the bigs, so we don't look back and say we shoulda-coulda... Bogey was "rushed" because of a need at 3B. Hell, he only played 10 games at 3B B$ the promotion. I don't think they planned on that early with him. Devers and Betts flew through the system, so clearly they don't wait on everyone. My point was, I hear more of this... "Why don't they call up _____, now?" more than this.... "They called this kid up, too early." (That is mostly said in hindsight.)
  22. Totally agree on no Rafaela at 2B. I don't think Schwarber is much worse than Casas or Alonso at 1B defense. It's not ideal, and if we can dump 75-80% of Masa's contract, I'm fine with DH'ing Kyle.
