  1. Let's hope he's not on the IL as much as Jake.
  2. We were also penalized one year for IFA signings. I have said all along, within the context of our draft choices and penalties, DD did well with his picks. However, our farm still sucked after he left.
  3. It's not. But, I guess if one team is asking for more- the other is asking for less.
  4. I'm 100% behind Bloom.
  5. I would not give up on the Myers-Quantril trade. Bloom is probably pushing for more cash from SD, and will wait until they realize nobody else will take Myers.
  6. Sale was a horse before 2018.
  7. The "cap" only applies to about 4-8 teams each year.
  8. Well, if the Myers deal gets done, it apparently included Quantril, so we'd have our 4/5th starter.
  9. I disagree. No way would we pay the tax, if he was just going to be our 4th OF'er. He might have been good enough to be a role player in MLB, but the tax issue may have prevented him for that.
  10. I don't "feel sorry" for Rusney. I firmly believe he was not good enough to be anything more than a 4th OF'er, but it does seem unfair that some stupid rule prevented him for even getting a chance to do that. He's making $72M, so no sympathy here.
  11. If the offer was $300M/10, it would have been insanely unreasonable for Mookie to accept, as is.
  12. I'd love to see Sale, Eovaldi and ERod all get 180+ IP, this year. (That will likely not be enough, though.)
  13. I agree. I will say that had the Sox been able to call him up without being taxed, I doubt he'd done well enough to prove he belongs in the bigs. That being said, he deserved a chance. By the time he gets his next chance, he'll be post-prime.
  14. I never thought I'd see teams sold for what they are being sold for, but you hardly hear any complaining about that.
  15. I think we can safely say the Sox SP'ers are no more injury prone than Yankee SP'ers.
  16. Must be little to talk about, if Castillo is back on the front burner.
  17. Well said. I got real choked up a couple time times during my eulogy.
  18. Just got back from my best buddies funeral in Maine. Over 265 attended! Wow, spring training games have started. I have some catching up to do.
  19. He looks like the type of player worthy of a shot, but I trust our evaluation people.
  20. We also traded Schilling, Cecil Cooper, and many more prospects and young players that went on to greatness.
  21. I think the year before we got Nunez and Reed in July. We didn’t win a ring, but they were good pick-ups.
  22. Marrero is on the list.
  23. That seems to be a reasonable position. Keeping a balance is probably the best way to go.
  24. There hasn't been enough time for most prospects traded away to prove anything. Some, like Guerra, have proven to be vastly over-rated, but some still show a lot of promise. One has "proven" he belongs, but it's still too early to judge: Yoan Moncada hit .915 last year at age 24. Here's a list of all the prospects traded by DD and their highest ranking on soxprospects.com. (Travis Shaw was no longer a prospect when traded.) 1 Yoan Moncada 1 Blake Swihart 3 Manuel Margot 3 Anderson Espinoza 5 Michael Kopech 5 Jalen Beeks 5 Deven Marrero 6 Javier Guerra 7 Luis Ax Basabe 9 Mauricio Dubon 11 Shaun Anderson 12 Wendell Rijo 13 Logan Allen 15 Santiago Espinal 16 Ben Taylor 17 Ty Buttrey 18 Luis Aj Basabe 20 Bautista Gerson 20 Carlos Asuaje 20 Stephen Nogosek Some are already pretty much sure busts, but let's come back and revisit this list in 3-6 years.
  25. I doubt it, but I'm pretty sure SD would prefer to have JBJ and pay $11M less in cash to Boston. That doesn't mean it happens. We might also trade JBJ to someone else, but with Verdugo hurt, I doubt we trade him.
