  1. The player doing the worst after Cora left was JD. (Not trying to say Cora would have made a difference.)
  2. Redemption.
  3. Our ML ready or near ML ready OF prospects are rather thin, to put it mildly. Age OF'er (soxprospects.com ranking/projected 2021 level) 24 Duran (#4 AAA) 24 Wilson (#31 ML Bubble) 23 Cannon (#25 A at 2B) 21 Rosario (#11 AA) 21 Decker (#24 A-) 20 Jimenez (#7 A+)
  4. I think he does get invited to ST'ing. He may be called up mid season. My point was about him not being on the opening day 26 man roster. He needs some more refinement and needs to play everyday. I'm not sure about his mental make-up, but I trust our management to know when he's physically and mentally ready for the bigs. We don't want to have him riding the bench in Boston, so he's in a tough spot. He may soon be ready as a 4th OF'er in the Bigs, but he needs to play to improve. I'm not convinced his bat is ML ready, yet. ST'ing sample sizes don't tell much, either, so even if he looks great in ST'ing I may still not be suggesting he start in CF opening day. Yes his speed may adequately compensate for any defensive shortcomings in CF, but I don't see any reason to force the issue. Even if Bloom think Duran is ML ready, we're still going to add/sign a CF'er.
  5. I totally agree, and vets like him, too!
  6. True, but I don't think jerking him between two positions will speed his development.
  7. Then, there's the fact that he was moved from IF to CF just recently. Not everyone can do what Betts did.
  8. I know how Kimmie feels about DD, so that remark was directed towards her. (I am fine with what DD did.)
  9. YES! CORA! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/red-sox-to-hire-alex-cora-as-manager.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
  10. LOL, I'm sure you realize it was a sarcastic remark. After the Turner incident, there will likely be some new rules put in place, however.
  11. ...and flat earthers over represented.
  12. I think you are confusing me with someone else. I wanted Dalbec promoted earlier than he was. I wanted Ockimey to get some PAs, this year. I was on board with calling Devers up, when many did not. I was JBJ's biggest fan, since the minors, and wanted him called up before he was. When he started out poorly, I defended him staying on the big club. Way back, I wanted Lynn and Rice called up earlier than late 1974. I don't think Duran is ready, and although I doubt his bat is ML ready, it's not about PAs. The kid is just learning CF. He was an infielder his whole life. Duran is no Tatis, so that was an unfair comp.
  13. Duran will not be on the 26 man roster opening day. We should have ranked- choice voting, here.
  14. Each new batter or pitcher will also have to submit to an immediate COVID test before being allowed into the game.
  15. We will likely add a better profile 2Bman, this winter, perhaps one who can play CF, too. Notin mentioned Brad Miller's name. Maybe Bloom has faith in one of the players we have rising up next year, but I don't. There's a saying that "there is strength in numbers," but I'm not sure that means much here. Current 2B contenders (I won't list Pedey): Arroyo Chavis Arauz (does not need to stay on 26 man roster) Chatham (maybe be traded or DFA'd for rule 5 or FA additions.) Downs (not on 40 man roster) Perhaps Dalbec could be moved to 2B, but with no 1Bman, I don't see any reason to do that. Plus, he would likely be a negative on defense at 2B.)
  16. Building the better lineup of tomorrow.
  17. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I don't share as much enthusiasm on Duran as many here. He's got great speed, but his defense needs work. He had some pretty good offensive numbers, but the BAbip and other numbers point to the chance of it not being as good as the numbers indicate. He probably needs at least 3-4 more months at AAA, assuming there is play next spring. soxprospects.com has this... Summation: Potential fringe starting outfielder with two carrying tools. Ceiling of an everyday center fielder. Nailing down his future projection is tough without a chance to evaluate swing changes made in 2020 without true game action. Speed is not a question, and hit tool should get to above-average if he can refine his approach. If 2020 power development is real, he could become a dynamic offensive player. Has already shown strong ability to make contact and drive the ball into the gaps. With his speed, has the potential to put a lot of pressure on the defense and inflate his average with infield singles and slugging by taking extra bases. Could also steal 30-plus bases if he improves his instincts. Is still continuing to develop in center field, but likely to develop into at least an average defender there and has the raw tools to become an above-average defender. Has one surefire major league impact tool in his speed, so should have a role on a major league roster even in the worst-case scenario, especially if MLB retains the runner-on-second rule in extra innings going forward. https://soxprospects.com/players/duran-jarren.htm
  18. Wasn't sure what thread this belongs on... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/angels-rumors-dave-dombrowski-staying-nashville.html
  19. The opt out might not look so sure with COVID depressing salaries, but I think you are right. If Bloom sense Bogey will opt out, trading him becomes more likely. He may trade him, regardless. I'm not sure of the "Dave's signing" part means all that much, but each GM values players differently. Some value defense at the SS position more than others. I'd like to keep Bogey around, but if we can get a great package in return, I'm okay with trading anyone.
  20. Is "soiled" better?
  21. I almost voted Taylor. I picked Marisnick, because I want almost all our resources going to building up the pitching staff- hopefully longer term.
  22. Ockimey lives another day!
  23. 19th is an improvement and maybe near a wild card challenge. Let's see where we are after signing more players than most of the teams 1-18.
